New Game

In recent months I have been super-stressed at work. I've also
been in desperate need of a vacation to try and recharge. I'm
now at the end of that vacation. I can't say I'm completely
recharged but I'm not in the state I was a fortnight ago,
either.
So, what have I been doing? I've taken the time to push the
design of a new air game along a bit further. This tactical game
- sort of a flight leader command game - has been brewing for
many months now (indeed, in back-of-envelope form for a few
years). I've now kicked it almost into shape. Particular design
problems included integrating bombers and defensive fire, as
well as head-on attacks.
I'll do some more work on this in the coming days. It's not
quite ready to push into playtest but I might show it to Andrew,
Gordon and Elias for initial feedback before I assemble a
playtest kit.
I've no idea if this game has any legs. I fear it might be a
game without huge replay value, but I could be wrong. We'll
probably see after the initial playtest of a prototype if it's
viable to push into full development.

Life can sometimes be a... naughty girl 8) So it's good you can
find that quiet and calm place while working on a new design!
Do share your ideas once you have it in a coherent
document/format. I will most likely not be able to participate
in any major way, but would love to at least read what you got.

Made big strides this weekend on the new game. I'm maybe a week
or two away from being able to show stuff to the inner sanctum.

Files have finally been shown to Gordon, Andrew and Elias for
initial feedback. I'm giving it a few weeks (particularly as
Gordon is off with important family stuff.)

Okay, for the short term I want to use this thread as the
discussion thread for the new game. Playtest files have been
distributed. I need to assemble a final kit to move ahead on
solo playtest.

So my current plan is to assemble a playtest kit in the coming
week and try and get some early solo tests in. Just try and get
a feel for play.
I know we don't have counters with pilot die values on them. I'm
just going to use Wing Leader counters and keep track of pilot
die via ID letters. Otherwise, I should be good.
