Scenario: D04_First in the line of fire - Test 01
Version: v0.3
Playtester: Jean Foisy [Solo]
Plans:
- Republicans: After SB squadron had dropped it's bombs, the
Escorts join the Sweepers to reach the bombers.
- Nationalists: Clear the skies of the enemy fighters to let the
bombers and strafers do their things.
Report:
- Game lasted 10 turns
- Nationalists Veterans goes to lead CR.32 and lead SM.79.
Expertes goes to 2 escorting Cr.32 and the Bf 109 Squadrons.
- Rebublicans Veterans and Expertes were given as per the
Special Rules. The second Veteran is assigned to the I-16
entering on Turn 3
- The CR.32s were no match for the I-16s. They can't protect the
Bombers nor themselves.
Victory:
REPUBLICAN VPs:
Nationalists A/C shot down: 5 x CR.32 + 7 x SM.79 + 2 x 109 = 21
VPs
Republicans Bombing:
- 5H (Hvy Damage) to Troops = 3 VPs
REPUBLICANS TOTAL = 24 VPs
NATIONALIST VPs:
Republicans A/C shot down : 2 x I-15 + 3 x I-16 Typ5 + 1 x I-16
Typ10 = 6 VPs
Nationalists bombing Results:
- 19H (Crippling Damage) to Bunker = 10 VPs
- 5H (Hvy Damage) Supply dump = 10/2 => 5 VPs
- Recce success to the Bunker target = 5 VPs
NATIONALISTS TOTAL = 26 VPs
***CORRECTED RESULT
SCENARIO TOTAL: +2 VPs; Republican Victory [Perceived Victory
Level: NONE].
Recommendations: None for now but I'll have to find a way for
better use of the CR.32s. On to test 2!

v 0.3
Republican vets placed as per SSR.
Nationalist vets in 109B sweep and lead CR32 escort. Might be
better served putting them in bombers.
FLAK- 1 x Ro37 shot down, affected 2 bomb/strafing runs
BOMBING- 1 hit on troops (1VP for Republicans)
6 hits on bunker for 3 VP (1 hit away from 7
VP)
6 hits on supply depot 20 VP, halved to 10 VP
as per SSR.
7 VP for recce of bunker.
20 VP for Nationalist, 1 VP for Republican
LOSSES- 6 x I-16
7 x I-15
13 VP
1 x Ro37
1 x SM79
6 x 109
4 x CR32
13 VP
VICTORY- 33-14 for +19 for a draw. Draw seems accurate,
Nationalist did some damage, but their losses seemed high. All
of the Republican kills were made by the 2 late arriving units.
Scenario seems fine after first play thru, but there's a lot to
this one with the bombing and choices to be made what targets to
bomb with Nationalist. Will run again.
FYI- not sure if this has been mentioned, the Vassal module
only has a He46 as a flight, OOB shows it as a squadron. Not
sure what we have for actual counters.

Scenario: D04_First in the line of fire - Test 02
Version: v0.3
Playtester: Jean Foisy [Solo]
Plans:
- Republicans: After the SB squadron had dropped it's bombs, the
Escorts join the Sweepers to reach the enemy bombers.
- Nationalists: Clear the skies of the enemy fighters to let the
bombers and strafers do their things.
- The escorts should be more aggressive.
Report:
- Game lasted 10 turns
- Nationalists Veterans goes to lead CR.32 and high Bf109
squadron. Expertes goes to 2 escorting Cr.32 and the Bf 109
Squadrons.
- Rebublicans Veterans and Expertes were given as per the
Special Rules. The second Veteran is assigned to the I-16
entering on Turn 3
- The SM.79's escorts managed to keep at bay the Republican
fighters.
- The SB bombing was appalling. It got only 1 Hit.
Victory:
REPUBLICAN VPs:
Nationalists A/C shot down: 4xCR.32 + 3x109 + 1xJu87 + 1xRo.37 =
9 VPs
Republicans Bombing:
- 1H (Slight Damage) to Troops = 1 VP
REPUBLICANS TOTAL = 10 VPs
NATIONALIST VPs:
Republicans A/C shot down : 3xI-15 + 5xI-16 Typ5 + 1xI-16 Typ10
+ 1xI-16 Chupete + 2xSB = 14 VPs
Nationalists bombing Results:
- 11H (Hvy Damage) to Bunker = 5 VPs
- 10H (Fatal Damage) Supply dump = 30/2 => 15 VPs
- Recce success to the Bunker target = 5 VPs
NATIONALISTS TOTAL = 39 VPs
*** CORRECTED RESULTS
SCENARIO TOTAL: +29 VPs; Nationalist Victory [Perceived Victory
Level: NONE].
Recommendations: Strange result; in this test the Republicans
got 14 less VPs than in test 01.
OTOH the Nationalists got +13 VPs than test 01 and the
Republicans still win.
The Victory Conditions say subtract the Nationalist VPs from the
Republican VPs.
My understanding of this victory condision is this: 10(Rep) -
39(Nat) = -29
Elias' and Forrest's calculations seems the other way around
(Nat - Rep). It make more sense.
If this the case the Victory condition should be subtract the
Republican VPs from the Nationalist VPs.
Or I'm missing something.
Best.

The Rep vp should be subtracted from the Nat vp. Your score is
in line with mine if done that way.

Okay, I'll make that change to the scoring for the next release
of the file.

v0.3
solo
Nationalist vets in lead SM79 and 109 escort
Republican vets as per SSR
FLAK- not effective, nothing shot down
BOMBING- 10 hits on troops for 6 VP for Republicans
19 hits on bunker for 10 VP
10 hits on supply for for 30 VP halved to 15 VP
25 Nationalist VP
LOSSES- 2 x CR32
4 x Ju87
2 x Do17
3 x 109
13 VP
1 x SB
2 x I-15
7 x I-16
11 VP
VICTORY- 36-19 for +17 for Republican victory. Both sides
benefited from some high bombing rolls. I set up the Republican
turn 4 reinforcements to bounce the turn 5 Nationalist
reinforcements. I made a tactical error with the 109 escort,
should have had the flight protect the the Do17's as opposed to
the Ju87's. The Do17's were eliminated (4 VP) and naturally did
not get the recce points. That was a 9 point swing. This looks
good, only more play testing to calibrate victory point levels
needed.

I'll try to do a count-up of all the playtests soon and crunch
the numbers.
