Holy cow Batman. I need to add Lancaster counters to the vassal
mix. I'll bet there's a few others too. Lee, do you have
playtest art for the Supremacy update? edit...found it [emoji2]
The Ta 152, A36 and Halifax too. Supremacy 2 vassal extension
coming soon.
I'll get to playing this scenario this weekend. Using v0.3
unless I hear different.

I just used Manchester counters, look pretty much the same from
the side.

Scott,
I’ll solo a game soon.
Do you want to get a game going as well?

Scenario: S33 Bomber Command
Version: v0.3
Players: Dave Demko (solo)
Narrative: The German fighters all took gun pods. The British
fighters used maximum splits, but none of them, flights or full
squadrons, broke. Both sides threw some extreme combat dice, and
the two lead bomber squadrons rolled poor enough cohesion to
break (-10 VPs net from that). The Germans managed to fit in
three unopposed attacks on bombers, confirming hits at +3 or +4
with an Experte. The end game was a chase, with some Mustangs
not catching up before all German fighters had broken.
Results: British bombers exited = 20
British for German fighters killed = 15
Germans for bombers killed = 33
Germans for fighters killed = 0
net Brits 35 - Germans 33 = 2, massive German win
Go home, RAF: You're drunk. This felt like a big German win b/c
of the multiple attacks on undefended bombers. High losses plus
two broken bomber squadrons are significant.
Recommendations: Yes, that felt like a German win, though I
didn't realize how far they had walked away till I counted the
points. This scenario threatens to be swingy. The beating the
two front bomber squadrons took helped the Germans rack up big
points: lead squadron 5 losses + break, next squadron 4 losses +
break add up to 36 VP gained by the Germans or lost by the
British. Yes, the Bf 109s are vulnerable with those pods, but
half of their hits on bombers, on average, yield losses. At this
point I recommend watching for wide variations in VP counts
among playings. So far the scenario seems fun and should have
good replayability based on German decisions about gun pods
(keep a squadron clean for air superiority work?) and British
decisions about splitting.

So far the numbers add up to:
British Exit VP - 27 + 22 + 20 = mean 23.0
German Losses - 6 + 12 + 15 = mean 11.0
British Losses - 13 + 26 + 33 = mean = 24.0
The net score is 10.0. I shall adjust the victory levels
accordingly.
So far it feels as if this scenario is very swingy. Each of the
VP outputs sees fairly wide variation (though the exit VP least
of all).
I took a look at Scott’s Expertenmaschine special rule and I
think I shall adopt a species of it. Look out for it in the next
release!

I'm on the other side of the world...Alaska. Don't know if we
can meet online but I should be able to get a mailing out per
day. Life will be slowing down quite a bit in the near future.
At least, that is my belief :-)
I'll send you a set up file soon.
My email is bigal737 at gmail dot com.

Since you are the wiley veteran I offer to play the British.

Scenario: S33 Bomber Command
Version: v0.4
Players: Dave Demko (solo)
Narrative: The German plan was to put the Veteran crew in a
squadron without gun pods to oppose the Mustangs. The rest of
the Bf 109s carried gun pods to down bombers. All Germans would
have been better off with pods. The low Mustang squadron never
managed to get into combat. It had tallies, but the left Germans
were able to keep ahead of them by getting into the bomber
stream and then shifting their tallies one squadron to the right
per turn. Bf 109s in N7 and O7 planned and executed a
cloud-bounce on the lead bombers and so managed to have several
turns of attacks against unsupported bombers. Eventually they
broke the lead bomber squadron, shot down the Expertemaschine,
and disrupted one other bomber squadron. One Mustang squadron
split, and those flights both broke, one early.
Results: British for killed Germans = 6
Germans for killed fighters = 2
Germans for killed bombers = 21
Germans for the Expertenmaschine = 3
net = +1, a solid German victory, felt like a German victory
Recommendation: The British had only a couple important bad dice
rolls, balanced by some poor luck for the Germans. The Mustangs'
defense was sensible. Still, they were continually playing
catch-up. The Germans were able to get onto the two lead bombers
without fighter interference, and the other German squadrons
kept just ahead of the Mustangs part of the time. Maneuvers to
accomplish this concentration on bomber-killing seemed
straightforward and not difficult to execute. The needed tally
rolls are easy to make. I think the scenario as configured
(v0.4) favors the Germans. Maybe an opponent would like to play
the RAF against me and prove me wrong. Because I think I've
optimized the German approach, I don't expect to learn much more
from another solo play-through.
