WL: Legends Test Status

This will be the thread where I'll post updates on the test
status of Legends scenarios. I'll do my preliminary test post
tomorrow (1 Jan 20), where I shall assign teams to scenarios.

As you can see from the table below we are doing things slightly
different this time. This time I am assigning teams to testing.
We shall see if this can be made to work.
Pick up your assignment from the Assignment column. After a
handful of tests (maybe two or three?) I shall move you to
another scenario. The objective here is to have at least two
teams look at a scenario before I mark it ‘Okay’. Once a
scenario is ‘Okay’, which I hope will take roughly five plays,
it can move onto beta testing.
Remember that in these initial tests we are looking for flaws,
problems or improvements that require changes (if any).
Obviously it would be nice to balance the scenario, but final
balance testing is not necessary at the alpha stage. Alpha tests
should be focussed on alterations to the scenario, or a
statement that the scenario needs no further alteration. So more
than anything in Alpha test I need to see recommendations for
change, OR that you recommend no change is necessary.

Orphan playtest report on Black day over the Ore Mountains. If
there is/ was a better place to put it apologies for not finding
it:-))
Andrew & I had a second run at this about a month ago with
couple of tweaks (regard this as another failed GCI roll
resulting in random interception of an alpha test target...).
As previously discussed it is an excellent scenario.
We shifted the lefthand P-51 from A13 to B16 and adjusted the
B-17s to a 6 squadron setup in P12 (2), O11 (2) and O13 (2). We
felt this probably reflected late war 8th AF formations a bit
better and it gives the Sturmbocks a bit more to go after if
they get to the merge with the bombers intact.
Final outcome was 7 bombers and 4 US fighters lost against 21 LW
fighters (9 109s, 12 190s). 1 bomber squadron broken, 1
disrupted so 27 exit VPs.
Final VPs:
US 27 (exit) + 21 (AtA)---> 48
LW 25 AtA
Final score +23 which felt like a draw.
We felt the changes to be a (small) improvement on an otherwise
excellent scenario. In particular moving the P-51s to B16 from
A13 gives them much more chance to get into the action & gives
the US player more choices about location of fighter resources.
Our alpha test suggestions for this one would be to go with
these changes:
6 B-17 squadrons (as above)
P-51 squadron in A13 moved to B16

End Week 2
Two weeks in and we have 12 logged plays. I have marked L03
Falcons Over France as having passed Alpha. (This is what ‘Okay’
status means.)

I’m making some changes to assignments.
(1) I’ll ask Scott S to look at L09 Valentine’s Day Massacre, to
pick up from Andrew and Gordon’s playthrough.
(2) Andrew/Gordon to look at L10 Battle of the Bismarck Sea.
(3) Scott K to look at L04 Spring Offensive, to pick up from
Andrew and Gordon’s playthrough.
By the way, if you feel that you’ve already done as much as you
can with the scenario you have been assigned, say so and I’ll
move you elsewhere.
