I prefer all types. Bombers only can encourage some perhaps
cavalier behaviour with the fighters.
Cheers

Agree it should be all types. The LW were stretched at this
point and all losses would have hurt. In addition, from the
perspective of playing the Soviets, getting that many fighter OR
bomber kills is very difficult to achieve whereas lumping them
all together makes it a little more possible.

Okay, so the sum of the changes to the campaign are:
(1) Tweaked German OOB #2
(2) Tweaked Soviet OOB #5
(3) Dropped bonus CVPs for German losses in offensive scenarios
to 8 of all types
(4) Dropped bonus CVPs for German losses in defensive scenarios
to 4 of all types
With regards to shifting the draw threshold asymmetrically
against the Germans, I want to keep that change in my pocket for
now, in case it is needed. I need to first see a few more full
campaign playthroughs with the above changes before I deploy the
Big One.

After chatting to Gordon today, I'd like he and Andrew to
complete another playthrough and then see where we are. I'm
hoping that after their fourth play the campaign will look solid
and we can talk about opening it up to others to start testing.
Then shift Gordon and Andrew back to helping out with beta-ing
scenarios.
From what Gordon told me it sounded like he felt they could get
through campaign scenarios really very quick. 75 minutes for two
scenarios, he said!

Scenario One played. The Soviets picked Rocket Armed Sturmoviks,
on the premise that they might not get to bomb again, and it
would be hard not to score with those. The Germans picked C,
which seemed uite a bit stronger than A.
The Soviets had no problem handling the Germans that did their
best but were heavily outnumbered by Soviet fighters with fair
crew quality. Plenty of Soviet fighters were left when all
Germans had broken but since the Germans had already lost 4
fighters, the Soviets didn't pursue. Since all german fighters
had been chased away before bombing, the Soviets could be
deliberate about it.
Heavy damage on one airfield, moderate on the other: Soviet win.
Soviet losses: 7 German losses 4. The Soviets would probably
have taken one or two more losses without ground hugging, but
I'm not sure the effect was dramatic. The problem for the
germans was that the Soviet escorts were able to peel off the
germans easily.
Right off the bat, the Germans lose the first scenario and 3
campaign victory points.
Comment: The current ground hugging rule felt like it more than
made up for the close defense. The Soviet win wasn't given, but
given the force setup, I think them getting 2 out of the 3
possible campign VPs is likely, and thev Germans are not likely
to get the bonus VP.
