       a) I think going to an alpha-beta testing model is a good idea.
There is a reason why this model is popular.
       b) I'll be around.

       Hi Lee,
I will be travelling again, mostly in places without ready
internet access, for all of December and January, but I should
be good from February onward. More importantly, my regular
playtest partner, John Lawton, will have retired by then, and he
has indicated a keen interest in continuing our involvement in
Wing Leader playtesting as one of his retirement projects. Too
late to contribute to WL:O but in time for WL:F.
       Ciao,
       Rick

You can count me in. I think my biggest problem is that I need
to have time along the way to play some other games (though WL
is my favorite by far, it’s not the only game I play) and also
since a big bunch of Wing Leader stuff won’t drop again during
Falcons testing I might not get distracted (like I was by
Victories 2e and Eagles being released).😉
I have a buddy who is relearning the system and wants to get
       involved in testing with Falcons.

       That's great to hear, Scott!
By my reckoning I currently have something like 23 submitted
scenarios for Falcons. Even allowing that few of those may be
dropped for various reasons while I’m also waiting for more
submissions to trickle in from elsewhere, we are potentially
going to have another packed book of scenarios to test.

I concur with the Alpha and Beta test concept. I'm still
learning but will do whatever is needed.

Since you created a bunch of the scenarios, I'm gonna have to
ask you to take responsibility and help break them!

So, when we close down Origins testing we will have been testing
for 42 weeks, which means many of you have been playing the game
weekly for most of the year. I think it will be good to rest up
a bit before we move on to Falcons.
Some of the reason for the long test time has been down to the
campaign test, which takes up resources. Also the number of
scenarios. Back at the beginning of the year I did worry that
testing 26 scenarios was pushing things a bit. I'm still worried
that's it may be the limit of what we should aim for. It's a lot
       to ask of you guys.
So, before we go ahead and start sifting through scenarios for
Falcons and whittling them down to an acceptable number, I have
to ask: what is that number? Is it 26? is it smaller? I ask this
because my original 'skinny module' idea was to limit to just 18
scenarios, or roughly 18-19 pages in a 24 page book.
Now, if we commit to doing even a skinny campaign, that will
take up page space, and I'm not yet sure how many pages that is.
After adding on 4-6 pages for the front and back cover,
additional rules, the 'what ADC do I use?' section and sundries,
the number remaining will in part determine the actual number of
scenarios that will fit whatever 'n x 4'-page value we shoot
       for.
So, what's your experience of this last year's test, and what do
you think is an acceptable target figure for numbers of
scenarios? Feel free to give a rough approximation.

It felt a bit much this time, 22 perhaps, like Eagles. Then
again, I don't want any of the cool stuff left out. Two
       skinnies? :-D

I came in late so I'm still fresh. Like Elias says I'd hate to
see any cool stuff miss out but I get the realities.

I would go with the skinnier end. A smaller number of really
great scenarios is better than a larger amount with a few “meh”s
thrown in. But this is generally how I approach creative output.
I was by no means the most active tester but I’d say it was
pushing the limits of what is doable in terms of numbers of
tests and number of hours devoted to play for the “grinder”
       level of player.
Another consideration is that Origins actually had a lot of
smaller scenarios. These are easier to find time to test than
medium or large scenarios. I can tuck in 3 plays of an 1.5 hour
scenario much more easily than one play of a three hour
scenario. If I had been more involved with testing Eagles my
guess is I would have got less plays in than I did with Origins.
