       Return to Base 9.2.6

Do fighter squadrons that are "returning to base" AND are
"unalerted" use 2mp per turn? This would seem to be the case as
       described in 8.2 Movement Points.
I actually had a situation arise today where Sweep mission
fighters remained "unalerted" all the way through to their
strafing attacks on ground targets (playing scenario S04 You
Don't Know Jack). Flak broke the squadron and on the following
movement phase had to begin RTB. So technically, it is still
unalerted and so it would have 2MP to fly home, correct? Rules
for RTB say nothing about number of MP except that they cannot
"circle" and the side note states that they must use "all
available Movement Points." Just wanting to make sure.

I think you're right on a strict reading of the rules. However,
I wonder whether we need to liberalise the rule.

Didn't we have a discussion about flak alerting fighters during
       the Supremacy testing?

We're so late in the day on this now that I don't want to add
any clarification into the rules. We need to lock this thing
       down.

So are we just going to keep broken units unalerted in their
Return to Base (2 mp max)?

That would be my ruling, yes.

I know the rules are locked down and all, but Return to Base
says you move 3 MP per turn. This suggests you can't get the
diving bonus when RTB, but that would be a weird exception.

I've always played that return to base allows you to gain +1 mp
       for diving.

How do we handle situations where the planes base is on the map?
The Great Raid scenario currently being tested has interceptors
taking off from 2 airbases on the map. Will the planes fly off
the map edge still or should they land at the base they are
       taking off from?

Firstly, there's no rules for landing. There's also no rules for
defining returning to base other than moving off a map edge, so
       I think we're covered.
