A quick note about the update sheet with the instructions on how
to update your game.
I originally planned for this to accompany only the update kit.
However, given that there are some people who may be buying the
boxed second edition in addition to the original, I've tried to
make the sheet work whether it's included in the update kit or
the boxed game.
I'm going to try and get GMT's view on this in the week and see
what they think.

So, the good news is that GMT have given me an extra week to
deliver the Victories rulebook. So, if Vincent can get me his
feedback by Friday, I'll turn the book around quick next weekend
and we'll all have one week to do a final pass on it.
In the meantime, can everyone who is not Vincent please focus on
the Eagles book and play aid?

So, the word back from GMT is that the update guide should only
go in the Update Kit. I will edit this accordingly and post up a
new draft at the weekend.
I've also completed an edit of the Eagles campaign. There's a
handful of text tweaks, but not many.

I've just uploaded all the Eagles and Victories files to GMTs.
There's still scope to change the books next weekend, should
anyone come up with any last-minute feedback.
I'm taking a break for the rest of this weekend. It's been a mad
five or six weeks of putting this stuff to bed.
Next week I hope to be able to devote my full attention to
Origins and will really start digging into the aircraft art.
After doing the I-15, I next want to do the art for an I-15 bis.

Okay, so following the pile of feedback I got from Rick and
Vincent this week, I have just uploaded fresh proofs of the
Victories rulebook and Scenario Book to dropbox. Rick and
Vincent now pretty much have just 24 hours to check the changes
and turn around any last-minute feedback. These things go off to
GMT for good first thing on Sunday morning.
I accepted nearly all change requests, except as follows:
(1) In 9.2.2.2 I will not add ‘reacting to attack’ to item (a)
as this is redundant. A squadron that reacts places a Tally
marker and therefore becomes a detached escort. However, I can
add cross-references to 10.4.2 and 10.4.3 to the tally placement
note.
(2) Regarding the return to base summary, I don’t want to add a
reference to the Return to Base marker here. I’m content to let
players figure out how to use the marker rather than try to
introduce it via the sidebar.
(3) Regarding 10.5, I will not add the armed fighter reference
to 10.5. The proposed change is more complete but I feel it
makes the sentence less clear, and covers a situation that is
extremely rare. (Indeed, I can’t even think of an unarmed
fighter off the top of my head; only contrived situations where
an unarmed bomber is assigned as a fighter.)
(4) Regarding 10.6, though Vincent proposes removing the entire
list of firepower modifiers from this rule, I am not going to do
that. It creates major problems, as this rule is the only place
the effect of ‘h’ protection in head-on combat is fully
explained. Removing it would create ripples throughout the
rulebook (there are too many cross-references to this rule).
It’s now far too late to contemplate such a big change.

I only had the extra proofing week for the books. I don't know
if Mark has sent the .ai files for the player aids off to the
printers or not. I'm checking with him now. If not, then the
feedback you sent might not have made it in time.

So Mark tells me those files haven't gone to the printers yet. I
have just uploaded renders of the front and back of each sheet.
We have until tomorrow (Sunday) morning to proof these before I
send them off for good.

Cheers, Vincent. I have had some back from Rick, too.
I'll process this stuff first thing in the morning. I'll post
the final files tomorrow as early as I can. However, unless
someone discovers something really broken, we will be done. No
more changes, even for small shit. I need to get this stuff put
to bed.
