Splitting

Here's something I've never thought of before:
My escorts are jumped in combat before they can tally, split or
react. The next turn, I can drop my tally, then immediately
re-roll tally on the same target, for the sole purpose of being
able to split out a flight. I just wanted to check that this is
the intention.
Dogfights are covered since you can't drop your tally when you
are in a dogfight.

This links with my previous question of reverting to escort. Can
these flights that are now available immediately revert to
escort for the coming movement phase?

So there are two things here:
Firstly, regarding the split, I don’t see a problem with it per
se. Unless it becomes an über-powerful exploit we should see how
this tactic works out.
Secondly, you revert to escort in the Admin Phase, so your
remaining flight should still attempt to get away from the fight
before it can form up as an escort.
