boggled mind [nero, open, midnight]

nero stood in a clearing within the forest. he wore nothing but
his pants and shoes. his bare chest bore the scar from dracons
attack and his belly bore the bandages from the branch that
impaled him during him and nicolinas fight. nero took a deep
calming breath and his short sword appeared "clear.....my mind"
he closed his eyes and took another breath. visualizing sable in
his villa standing just as he is now. nero opened his eyes, a
spear chain flew from the bush behind him. nero swung his sword
behind him and deflected the chain. one after another spear
chains flew from random areas in the surrounding bush. nero
fluidly deflected the spear chains. his feet glided across the
ground as he near effortlessly defended himself. in his mind he
could see sable doing the same thing. a flash of nicolina
striking him into a tree flashed in his eyes and he faltered
nearly missing a spear chain deflection. his train of thought
gone he now has trouble deflecting the chains and begins roughly
dodging them. his movement no longer fluid and his steps no
longer graceful he tries to get back in the rhythm. another
flash of nicolina looking at him, her eyes no longer caring the
love she had for him as she walked away leaving him wounded. a
spear chain grazes his arm. another grazes his cheek. a spear
chain flies from the bush behind nero. he turns toward it but
has no time to dodge nor deflect. the sound of flesh being
ripped echoes through the forest. birds scatter through the
deep darkness of the midnight hour. blood drips to the ground at
neros feet. but the blood is not from his chest nor a mortifying
wound. the tip of the spear head barely pierces neros chest. his
hand securely wrapped around the spear head before mortal wound
could be made. the blood dripped from his hand that was gripping
the blade. nero growled and tossed the blade to the ground as
all of them disappeared into twilight dust

What am I doing out here, this could ruin everything...but I...I
can't stand by and let him die she thought as she stalked
through the forest. She had left the mine shafts and searched
out Sables energy. As she made her way through the forest she
masked her own.

nero was still standing in the clearing. over his shoulders was
a massive log. he was in the middle of doing squats. his mind
racing between things even without the masking of her own energy
nero would not have noticed her. as he does not notice his
wounded abdomen bleeding, he ignores the pain be it willingly or
absently.

She came upon and stopped just outside the clearing, a part of
her still wanted to turn around and leave but she ignored it and
silently watched him. She noticed the blood but was reluctant to
step forward. She frowned and purposely stepped on a branch,
causing it to snap loudly in the otherwise msotly quiet area.

neros senses kicked in at the snapping of the branch. on reflex
he tossed the log with all his might into the location which was
more than what he should have did. he fell to a knee in pain and
grabbed his bleeding wound

She immediately sent a bolt of energy at the log, breaking it in
half. Stepping past the smoldering pieces she stepped into the
clearing and looked at him.

nero looked at her in confusion. not sure if he should fight,
run, or just give up "are you here to kill me" the blood was
seeping through the cracks of his fingers

Sitting hidden in the higher branches of a tree a ways back,
completely obscured from view. The white stone in her pocket
masking her presence, she was undetectable. A silent ghost no
more out of place than a breeze as she observed the scene in the
clearing.

"Would't need to, you're doing a fine job of that on your own."
she said, gesturing to the blood. She leaned back against the
tree, brushing her hair out her face wishing she had brought a
ponytail holder to pull her hair back.

"this is nothing, i've been in worse" nero stood and walked over
to a bag he had in the bush and pulled out a medical kit "so why
are you here? delivering a message from aku? play mind games
with me? what?" nero began to clean himself up and wrap up the
wound again
