Re: Searching for a start [night, open]

At the sound of a voice Mitsuki's head popped up and her teal
eyes scanned through the darkness, looking for the source. The
unfamiliar voice putting her slightly on edge she bit her lip.
Crossing her arms across her chest her eyes fell downward for a
moment. "N.....No....." She sighed softly, barely able to
sound convincing in her lie. She felt more unsure of herself
than she would want to admit. "I guess.....is it wrong to
question myself." Pausing for a second she thought. [i]"to
question my path....or who I am...." She sighed and shook her
head. [i]Self reflection can't be a bad practice right?"

"Isn't it just terrible, you sit there wondering and wondering
no closer to an answer." he said and crushed the flower. "Aren't
you tired of these useless feelings dragging you down, I can
free you from that. Give you all the answers you so desperately
seek. No one to use you, no longer giving away more and more of
yourself. Why not be selfish and take what you want?"

"Never any closer....I don't even know if there is one...." She
murmured softly pushing her hair back out of her face. As the
words settled around her, she bit her lip again. "Are my
feelings dragging me down? I have felt less like a person and
more like a tool." she thought wringing her hands together.
"The answers that I've been looking for. Can....can I really be
selfish? I mean.....everything I've been....all that I've
done....has never been for anything other than everyone else.
Its been my role in life...making sure everyone else is okay."

Aku smiled "Of course you can be selfish. The lean on you so
heavily, you can't support them forever. Break away now before
they break you. I can offer you freedom, the freedom to return
to the life you once led." he stepped out of the shadows. "After
all I gave the same freedom to Nicolina, it wouldn't be fair if
I didn't offer you the same courtesy."

Mitsuki's eyes remained down as she let the words continue to
wash over her. Could she be selfish? Would they be okay
without her? Would anyone even notice before the next time
someone was on deaths door? "I can't support them forever...I
could be free...." she murmured softly. As Aku stepped out of
the shadows and mentioned Nicolina's name her head shot up, her
eyes wide. "You gave Nicolina freedom?"

He nodded and walked towards her. "I did. I freed her from the
painful emotions, I saved her from the inadequacy she felt as a
Guardian." he said stopping in front of her. "I gave her the
power she desired, all that I offer is freely given, all you
must do is ask, be selfish and give into your own desires." he
held out his hand with a smile.

Mitsuki's eyes remained locked on Aku. He had freed Nicolina
from painful emotions. Nicolina had felt inadequacy.....she
knew she did, but she had assumed the Night owl was stronger
than she was. All she was good for....was keeping the others
from death....or was she. "You....offer power, answers, and
freedom....all freely." Her hand towards him from it's position
at her side. "One moment of putting myself first, of not
worrying about the other's. Why would you give this
freely...why would you help. Is....there something you desire
in return...."

"Nothing at all, I am not a cruel demon, I simply wish to free
those who are suffering." he answered.

Mitsuki bit her lip softly, her thoughts swirling frantically
through her mind. Her hand clenching at her side. Could she
really fore sake everyone else for her own ease. What would
happen if someone was hurt...and no one was there that could
help. She hated feeling like she only there to be called upon
as she was needed to keep them from death....but could she
handle it if something happened and she wasn't there.
Everything he offered, it was tempting....it could make life so
much easier... "I..."

At her hesitance a frown crossed over his pleasant features.
"Why do you hesitate? Do there lives truly matter that much to
you, merely bound together by the most pathetic of ties they
should mean nothing."
