Sea Air (night)

Nicolina buried her toes into the sand, a content smile on her
face as she enjoyed the warm night breeze and the stars above.
The sound of waves crashing soothed her further and she leaned
back on her hands. "We are meant to protect our Keys, they are
locked within us, but what are we tryin so hard to keep locked
up? What happens when one looses a key?" she questioned herself
softly and sighed. And that girl, did she die in the first war?
How many Guardians are there total...how close were we then?

"It is so very pointless to sit around asking yourself
questions. No one will give you the answer after all." a young
voice said from behind her, the boy smiled when she jumped in
surprise. "Compared to the others you are quite ineffective,
weak, useless...why not simply give into what you truly desire.
The complete and utter darkness in you would make you so much
stronger." he said, walking til he stood beside her seated
figure. "Sadly I've been rude, my name is Aku." he said.

She looked at the boy with a frown. "Another demon I see. After
the Keys for whatever reason...what do you mean?" she asked and
moved away when he came to stand beside her. His words struck a
chord in her, but not as strongly as before when Damion had
marked her. "The darkness within..." it was a phrase she and Rei
had spoken about in her memories.

He turned to face her, "Aren't you tired of letting them hold
you back. Relying so heavily on them that they force your own
powers to become weak and pathetic? I want to offer you freedom,
the true freedom you desire. After all the darkness is where you
thrive, there is no room for you in there world." he said and
looked out at the sea.
"They aren't your friends you know, and you don't care for them.
After all being a Guardian has ripped you away from your life,
your family and everything you held close. But I can give it all
back to you, I can make you stronger. With me you will become
more than a Guardian title." as he spoke his aura strengthened
around him. He walked towards her, black mist seeping from
beneath his feet. "I can give you all the answers you seek."

She stumbled back, shaking her head in response to his words.
"No that's not true. They are my friends, and I do care about
them." she said and bit her lip. Even if the others truly didn't
I know without a doubt Nero cares for me...but could it be true,
even Selene never felt content outside of her realm she thought.
She glared at Aku and transformed into Selene, she didn't know
what that black smoke could do but she knew it wasn't going to
be anything good. "You don't know anything about me, I suggest
you leave me be." black spears formed behind her, poised to
attack.

Lips curled into a sneer "You still cling to that pathetic idea.
Understand they will betray you, you'll end up all alone just
like before. None of them truly care you and I wait for the day
you realize that." he said and ignored the attack aimed at him
in favor of moving his mist across the sand towards her. "In the
end the one you care for most will hurt you. You will join me,
the shadows are your home after all. " he said.

She faltered, not wanting to believe him but a small part of her
couldn't help but believe him. She wanted to say she'd be fine
on her own again, but after having a taste of friendship she
wasn't too sure. Lost in thought she barely noticed the smoke
coiling around her legs.

He smirked, letting his mist seep into her skin he pulled them
back "Remember these bonds will cause you nothing but pain. It
is better to throw away your useless emotions and become what
you were always meant to be." he turned away from her. Taking
out a small black stone he tossed it at her feet "Break the
stone and I will come to you." with that he vanished in a swirl
of black leaves.

The spears vanished, she sunk down to her knees feeling tired.
The mist that was taken in left a seed of doubt, even that she
picked up the stone and pocketed it without further thought.
She looked out at the waves "What am I meant to be?" she
questioned softly.
