Journal of Light - Story of a Day Bird

[i]Mitsuki Delacroix
Mitsuki Delacroix was born the only daughter of Aaron and
Liliana Delacroix. Her parents were of well off means, and had
always lived in Cerulean City. Her mother is a partner in a
prestigious law firm, while her father is an electrical engineer
researcher in an advanced electronics company. As a young girl
Mitsuki was always strong willed and dedicated, with a strong
drive to help people. Normally found playing outside in the
sun, she always was drawn to the light. If a child she was
playing with managed to get scraped up, she would normally be
helping quicker than their parents could even react. As she
grew she took this passion to begin to pursue a career in
medicine.
Her helpful calling made a huge impact again when she was 13.
On their way home from her Violin lesson with her parents their
car was crashed into full force by another car. The other car
hit the front half of their car. Upon the impact their car was
spun around and flipped over, her parents getting the brunt of
the impact. What Mitsuki didn't see was the reason for the
accident, was a demon chasing an innocent into the street,
driving him to suicide. The only reason the man was spared was
the demon got his destruction in the form of the family's
accident. Upon waking up upside down, still strapped in all the
young girl expected to hear was screams, but she was met with
silence. The smell of sulfur was thick in the air from the
airbags. Managing to free herself from the seat belt she rushed
to her parents sides. Seeing them teetering on the brink of
death, the girl felt a rush of light more than she had ever
felt. For the first time shifting into Haruko she quickly was
covered in light and healed her parents, falling back to her
normal form unconscious in the car. When the paramedics arrived
they found the two uninjured parents and the unconscious
Mitsuki. Waking a week later in the hospital with her parents
at her side she had to figure out what had happened.
While she was unconscious she had gotten her first glimpse of
the realm of many lightly. Bright fields of grass and flowers,
sparkling lakes, a crystal blue sky and a clear sense of hope.
As the years went on she got a few more glimpses of the realm,
feeling more like it was an idyllic sense of peace that she
looked for in her life, almost not believing it was real.
Always looking in books during her studies for the landscape she
constantly looked to see if it existed. In the mean time she
began to learn the art of archery and knife skills and continued
her medicinal studies. On occasions testing to see what she
could do as Haruko, doing minor healing of woodland creatures.
A Key Holder?
One day when she was 16 she was out in the woods in the
mountains practicing with her bow, when the scent of smoke
caught her nose. When she turned the woods behind her were in
flames. Catching sight of movement she charged in trying to
help whoever was there. Coming face to face with a demon she
drove him back and contained the fire. However the sight of the
world burning around her triggered a dream that night. Once
again she was in the realm of many lights, and everything was
bright. However this time the air was ablaze with fire. Her
body riddled with arrows she screamed out in pain. Something in
her driving her forward, she needed to save those she could.
Her thoughts filled with the other 4. She needed to make sure
the key was safe and the others were as well. Seeing dragons
and fire consume the world she loved she pushed on till her body
gave out falling into a once sparkling lake. Holding a hand to
her chest, she needed to protect the key. Fading consciousness
in the dream bolted her awake. She knew there were others, and
she and 4 others had a special task. Everything still hazy she
continued on, to do her best in her role, vowing to not let her
key be taken.

The realm of Many Lights is a realm that is almost always in
eternal sunshine. There are multiple suns that make their way
gracefully across the sky. The days are long and bright, the
sun shines warmly on the inhabitants of the realm. Most of
the populace lives in crystal cities. Much like the one below.
They dot the landscape leaving much of the lush landscape
untouched so that everyone can enjoy the serenity and peace.

Haruko's home is just outside the largest city nestled at the
base of the mountains overlooking a field of bright flowers and
a crystal blue lake. This is her favorite spot, unspolied and
pristine. Haruko enjoys the peace of her own little peace of
the world, while still being near to the rest of the

Meandering Thoughts
The young guardian of light sits on the edge of the lake in her
realm. The pristine sky and picturesque scenery can only mean
she is near her home. Her hair down and loose, it clings to
her, as if she had just pulled herself from the sapphire waters.
A loose blue dress clung to her as well, further indication
that the guardian had been swimming. Leaning back she curled
her hands behind her head and watched the clouds. Days like
this were always wonderful, quiet, peaceful, bright. There were
not enough of these anymore. So many days filled with the
wounded, with blood, with the dead. The guardian of light
sighed and closed her eyes.
"Sighing doesn't become you Haruko." a mischievous but soft
voice came from behind her. "You normally don't look so glum on
a day like this, especially by the lake."
Haruko a light smile crept across Haruko's lips while her eyes
remained trained at the sky. "What can I say, the more time
passes the more ends up on my mind. The more I wonder...." She
shook her head and closed her eyes.
The mischievous voice drew closer as if hovering right above the
light guardian's face. "You know if you worry and wonder too
much, you'll end up with wrinkles."
A light laugh came from Haruko as she went to open her eyes. As
she does Mitsuki finds herself back in her reality, curious as
to who the other voice was.

A Light that used to Shine so Bright
The night on the top of the school dragged on for what seemed
like an eternity. The dark sky soon gave way to dark clouds and
a soft rain. The guardian of light had slipped into a restless
slumber, the water from the sky mixing with the tears that
rolled down her cheek even in her sleep. While the rain did not
wake her, it did make the dreams worse.
Hour after hour in her recent actions replayed in her mind. Her
memories splattered a deep crimsion, the blood she had spilled
coating her psyche. Amidst the nightmareish scenes a long
forgotten memory crept its way into the corners of her mind.
Once a year in the realm of many lights, there was a day of
darkness. A single day when the suns didn't shine. Most of the
inhabitants of the realm stayed indoors, keeping their homes lit
with the soft glow of gas lamps and their fireplaces. It was a
time to be with the ones they cared for, a time to appreciate
those around them in the discomfort of the world out side.
Against the darkened sky a solitary form walked along the edge
of the lake near her home. A single lantern in her hand the
light cast danced softly against the snowy white of her wings.
As she approached the water she stood in the water, as it curled
up around her ankles. A flowy white dress swirled around her in
the wind. The solitary guardian sighed into the wind. Normally
she would have stayed indoors this night, but something had
drawn her out, had pulled at something deep within her.
Standing in the darkness there was nothing but silence other
than the wind.
The battles had started to get to her, all the death, all the
pain. However much she seemed to be able to help, to be able to
heal, it barely made a dent in the overall picture. Her hair
hung around her shoulders as rain began to fall. Sad eyes
watched the ripples on the lake. Was it all worth it? Every
fight seemed to teeter closer to the edge of disaster, and she
was tired. Seeing the soft glow from her lantern be swallowed
by the darkness she sighed. When the world was this dark, could
a source of light make any difference, or was it doomed to be
overtaken by the dark. After a while of standing in the rain,
she sighed and resumed her walk along the lake, maybe she should
talk to Linnette soon.
Mitsuki's eyes fluttered open on the rooftop for a moment. The
memory swimming at the edge of her mind. Darkened and dull teal
eyes cast out into the darkness, tears rolling down her cheek
again. Had she gone past the point of no return? Everything
she had done.....it was unforgivable. She knew that, no one
should forgive her. She was the guardian of light, she was
meant to help....to heal, and instead her whole being was
stained with blood. She had nearly killed Nicolina.....she was
gone......she didn't deserve being the guardian of light....not
after what she had done.
Slowly she let sleep take her again.
