Pandoras Box

[center]Nicolina Nyx ~Guardian Selene~ Humble Starts[/center]
Nicolina Pandora Nyx, the eldest and only daughter of Claudia
Nyx and Alexander Nyx and older sister to Dante Nyx. Before her
family settled in Cerulean city they had moved around due to her
father working in the army, but after an accident left him
unable to continue his military life they were able to settle
down. Nicolina was around 10 years old when she first discovered
she was a guardian, she and her family were having a mini
camping trip before moving day, they had only been out in the
woods a few hours before a bird demon tried to attack them.
Unfortunately her family was unable to see the attack, only that
some force of nature was trying to get at them causing them to
flee, fearful for her family's safety forced the ten year old to
transform into Selene, Guardian of the Realm of Endless Nights.
From there she was able to draw the bird away and banish it back
to the depths of hell, after returning to herself she found her
worried family trying to find her, knowing she couldn't explain
to them what had happened without sounding crazy she decided to
keep it to herself but she knew her life would never be the same
afterwards.
After the incident she began having strange dreams of a place
she'd never been to before, a place she knew not to exist
anywhere in the world but she knew deep inside that this was a
place she once called home. That dream continued to float in and
out for years, never showing more or revealing what it really
meant. Just an image of a field with glowing white flowers, and
a bundle of trees out in the distance. As Nicolina grew older
she had not encountered anymore demons, but she secretly
practiced transforming into Selene and taking up archery classes
to get better with her marksmanship and kendo classes to up her
sword skills. She knew that whatever she was it was something
important and could be used to protect her family from any
supernatural occurrence but she learned the hard way that her
powers had limits and that the daytime was not her ally.
By the time she was entering highschool she knew she didn't want
to interact with any of the students, preferring to keep to
herself it wasn't that she was antisocial but after years of
moving around all the time and only her family being a stable
choice for interaction anything beyond that made her
uncomfortable. Large groups made her wary and making friends
just seemed like a waste of time so she chose to keep to being
alone, making many think her antisocial or rude. Besides she
found ways to keep herself occupied, through the readings of
romance novels and letting her imagination run wild with
thoughts of when she would fall in love for the first time.
[center]Being a Gate Key Holder[/center]
Nicolina is one of the 5 Gate Key holders a fact she came by
randomly while daydreaming in class. She hadn't noticed when her
body slipped into the patter of meditation her mother taught
her, but she did notice the area around her wasn't the
classroom, instead she was once again in her realm. But instead
of the peaceful night time land she had become used to it was
instead filled flames, the sky alight with red and dragons
circling from above. She was breathing heavily and noticed her
hand was bleeding, her crossbow fell to the charred ground and
her thoughts were frantic telling her she needed to leave the
area and find the others to protect their keys. Nicolina was
confused but had no time to investigate the odd thoughts,
instead going along with the flashback she let it play out. Her
Guardian form pushed off the ground and she hurried towards the
knot of trees, wondering which realm would be safe to get to and
if the other 4 were safe. Before anything else could happen she
was back in the classroom on the floor gripping her "injured"
hand. After that she knew there were other Guardians, and that
she and four others held something important in them that caused
for some sort of battle to occur. Beyond that she was still
clueless.

THe Realm of Eternal Nights. A world that is stuck in permanent
night time, Selenes' favorite spot is a large field filled with
many white flowers that carry a glow similar to the moon. At the
edge of the field is a small dense forest of trees.

The trees grew close together to the point the branches easily
made pathways between each other. Here was where Selene lived,
her home in the darkness of the trees.
Nicolina wondered what it would be like to live in such a world,
but when she saw that her Guardian had no form of family it made
her sad. Of course she wasn't sure if that was true but for all
the memories she'd seen so far she had no idea if Selene was
friends with any of the others in that life .

[center]The First Meeting[/center]
The first Guardian she met turned out to be the silliest person
she'd ever come to know. It was the first time in a while that
she'd been attacked by a demon, but it wasn't as though she'd
been sitting around waiting, she'd trained and felt fairly
confident that any demon that came for her she could handle no
matter her day time limitations. Of course being faced in the
day was different than training and she found the reality a bit
harder than she thought with Fairy demon being able to fly and
hide in the clouds. But she'd been able to hold her own until
night fall, with minimal assistance from the Guardian who had
come to her aid. After the battle she was reluctant to speak to
the other, but learned he was Sable Guardian of the Realm of
Ending, from there she knew things were just beginning.
[center]The Day Bird vs the Night Owl[/center]
Nicolina knew the moment she laid eyes on the blue haired pest
that she had met another guardian, and one who was obviously an
annoyance. There first meeting hadn't been the most friendly of
encounters but she couldn't deny the satisfaction of making the
other girl twitch when she called her Day Bird and Suki. Mitsuki
was the Haruko, Guardian of the Realm of Many Lights, her
opposite, her rival of sorts and oddly enough the thought
angered her but made her happy. It proved that Selene didn't
always keep herself in solitude, that she had a relationship
with another even if it was one of rivalry. But it didn't stop
Nicolina from finding the girl to be utterly annoying, she
wouldn't admit it but she was jealous that the other Guardian
had powers that were usable during the day.
[center]Downhill From Here[/center]
The moment she saw her brother be killed in front of her...it
was like a small piece of her heart was killed right along with
him. It was always a small fear that despite her powers she
would never be strong enough to keep those she loved the most
safe, and that day confirmed her fears that she was weak. Her
day time limits hindered her to the point she couldn't save her
brother. Forced to relieve that moment, and hear his desperate
cries for help over and over made her feel even worse. Knowing
she almost let Roka get hurt was just the icing on the cake.
Night go by where her dreams are filled with her brothers deaths
and her friends taking his place to be killed in front of her,
she hates that weakness and in turn hates herself for having it.
It's grown to the point where she now avoids going home unable
to face the true reality of her actions.
[center]A Girl a Boy and A cat[/center]
Nicolina is now currently living with Nero in his apartment, a
fact that makes her blush slightly whenever she thinks too much
about it, but it was better than going home to face her
failures. During her stay her first kiss was surprisingly taken
by Nero, causing the girl to have a mini panic attack but her
quick thinking led her to kiss him back, but she is still unsure
to call them a couple or not despite Rokas many teasings about
it. For now she will study her various romance novels to gain
wisdom and insight while going about her daily duties with Nero
and Fate.

[center]Gone[/center]
For the time being Nicolina has decided to leave on her own. She
promised Nero she would be gone for 2, 3 days tops, but to be
honest she isn't sure how long she plans to stay gone. Unsure as
to what to do about her current feelings she's hoping her self
imposed solitude will help her come to a solution. Because of
that she was unaware of the attacks or the growing danger.
Her younger brother Dante has taken it upon himself to go out in
search of his missing sister. Worried, and saddened by her
continued absence he's hoping to find answers.

[center]And So She Wanders[/center]
She punched a mirror in frustration, her moods felt up and down.
For moments she was happy to be with Nero and stay in his
apartment teaching him to meditate and helping him recover lost
memories, at other times she felt the crushing blow of self
hatred and sadness at removing herself form her family. And in
one of her low moods she took it out on the glass that reflected
the person she hated, and decided that perhaps a bit of solitude
was what she needed to calm her hectic mind.
She took her solitude up to the mountains, the shrine being off
limits since someone could appear and try to talk to her. But
even in the small town she'd run into Roka, forcing her to
quickly leave and take her journey up to the empty mines. She
stayed up there as Selene, meditating and enjoying the silence
and solitude.
[center]A Dream Within a Memory[/center]
She was home again. Walking through the familiar rooms of her
house, it was empty devoid of the homey feeling it gave her
every time she walked through the door. She wondered where her
family was and why no one was home, yet soon the image began to
burn away at the edges. A black fire began to take away each
room, burning away photos of smiling happy faces. She stood
there in the middle of it all, a sense of apathy as she watched
her world burn. She shut her eyes.
They opened once more, a cool wind brushing across her skin. A
thread of white flickered in front of her face. She caught it
and saw it was her hair. Looking down at her clothes she took
note that she was Selene, looking around she saw she was in her
realm. The nightly landscape spread out in front of her. She
felt the white petals float with the wind and brush across her
skin. "Why am I here. For what reason do I exist? she thought.
She began walking forward, wondering if this were a memory or a
dream. She wanted to understand her purpose, wanted to know the
meaning of being a Guardian and why such a title must endanger
all the things she holds dear...yet soon even the nostalgic
landscape began to burn away and with it came a sense of
melancholy.
She opened her eyes and noticed there were tears, she wiped her
cheeks wondering if the tears were for the home she'd lost long
ago or for the one that could be taken away. She stood up,
grabbed her bag and went deeper into the mines.

[center]Darkness Within ~A memory of the past~[/center]
For once the young Guardian wasn't standing in the field of
glowing flowers, instead she was looking out a window. The
forest was dark, some would say it was creepy but to her it was
beautiful and inviting. A black cup was in her hands, the liquid
she couldn't identify but it gave off a comforting warmth and
smell as her memory body sipped it. "I keep myself secluded in
the darkness, sometimes I've wondered is it because I am afraid
of how others would see me in the light or because I am safer
here to express the darkness within me." she mused. A sly smile
on her lips while she looked at her reflection. The voice that
answered wasn't one she recognized by name but knew in her soul
as a friend of sorts, "That all depends...you are easily drawn
to the darker nature of things, there are so few like us,
honestly only us. The light is something we do not understand,
it can not hide you, it gives away all secrets and makes you
vulnerable to attacks. But here in the shadows are nothing but
lies and deception. It is a strange thing, why question dynamics
Selene." the voice answered, the light emotionless quality oddly
soothing to the Guardians ears.
"No reason...I am simply afraid dark times will come and if we
all will be strong enough to face it." She had answered.

[center]A Forgotten Fate[/center]
Selene was sitting at the window this time, her white hair was
braided and coiled into a bun, outside the forest was dark but
soon it became illuminated by what appeared to be falling light.
"Ah it seems a light storm is coming through" she said softly
and watched as little rays of light fell from the sky. She
dragged her nail over the window "How far into the darkness must
one go before they wish for the light to save them?"
"You seem to favor the window a lot now a days Selene. Along
with questions." the familiar voice stated, like last time her
Guardian self didn't turn to face the voice so it was, was still
a mystery. "Sorry little one, do you feel neglected. It just
seems my thoughts continue running away from me...we are not
immortal yet we carry the lifespans of one. Never aging and
forever stuck in stasis until we are cut down. We have one task,
to guard our Keys, but I wonder what it is we are trying so hard
to protect. Is that our only purpose in life....to me it seems
such a cruel fate" she trailed off and noticed the others
silence. "Ah...ignore my somewhat melancholic state. I guess
light storms bring out the worst in me, eh Rei?" finally she
turned around and looked at the mint green haired girl.
