Kalphite King: A beginners guide. Tips, hints, and sudgesstions.

KALPHITE KING
My oh my, kk, what a good time. I cant count the hours I have
spent squashing bugs in the lair of the king, and even today it
remains as one of my favorite past-times. I still remember my
first time going to kk, scared out of my pants, jaw on floor,
and godsword in hand. Now that ive overcame my irrational fear
of the king (really? who would be afraid of a giant, man eating
bug, that can kill you in one hit???) I frequent him as often as
I can and teach people when I have the chance. I will include in
this guide various helpful things for those new to kk. although
no matter how much I put into the guide, the best way to learn
is to get in there, and get your hands bloody (...err....bug
gutty?) from killing it yourself. Nothing substitutes first hand
experience. As always feel free to ask questions, or ask me to
take you one on one to teach you. Im always willing to teach :)
To start, I ask the question "Why should I go try and kill a
bunch of stupid bugs?"
The answer is simple! Its freakin fun! (the drops are kinda nice
too.....). KK is known for dropping something known as drygore
weaponry. Drygores are a set of dual wield melee weaponry
requiring level 90 attack to use.
Where is Kalphite King?
If you click on your map and locate the Bandit Camp in the
Desert area, you can see that it's just south of that. Use the
Bandit Camp loadstone to get there.
Now for the basics of the boss.
The first thing to know when going to learn kk for the first
time:
YOU WILL DIE! (seriously.....a lot). Don't worry about it. Don't
even be scared. Just learn to expect the possibility of death
and to get back and join the fight fast. You can get back to
your grave crazy fast and theres low risk of losing your stuff.
Now that that's over, to start there are three phases; mage,
range, melee. Look to the wings to find out what phase your in.
-Melee phase: Yellow wings and weak to Fire spells. Attacks tank
with melee only, but people in melee range may get stomped. Pray
melee.
-Range phase: Green wings and weak to stab attacks. Attacks
everyone with long distance range attacks. Pray range.
-Mage phase: Blue wings and weak to arrows. The hardest phase
for many! Throws magic balls throughout the room that explode
after a short waiting period. they hit in a 5x5 radious around
their impact spot. Run away from the yellow when you see them
coming. The blue will stun everyone in the room on use. It is
handy to use anticipate every time it becomes available to
prevent being stunned. Pray mage.
-Keep in mind that it can be ANY RANDOM PHASE when he spawns!
Keep your eyes open.
There are three roles: Tank, Voker, and DPS.
-Tank: Keeps kk on him at all times. Note: The damage the tank
receives is only higher on Melee phase. On Magic Phase and
Ranged Phase he will deal equal damage to all players.
-Voker: Saves the tank from Kalphite Kings Insta-kill.
-DPS: Damage dealer. Dealing as much damage to kk as possible
and to kill the minions quickly. Note: DPS's may be told to be
Tanks/Vokes if the Tank/Voke dies. Just listen to what others
tell you to do in this situation.
Gear recommendations. (These are recommendations, in order of
best to worst. you don't NEED them by any means. If your just
learning, bring something cheap and non degradable. Every time
you die your gear can degrade if its degradable, so save
yourself money. Level 90 armor isn't recommended but to those
with the highest in confidence in their abilities, as it cant be
repaired and is incredibly expensive.)

--------------- Banned Abilities----------------
A few banned abilities that if used could cause harm to other
players. Notice the lack of bleeds and stuns in the allowed
abilities. I CANT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH that you SHOULDNT USE STUNS,
ULTIMATES, OR BLEEDS!!!!! Stuns can cause the king to swap
phases and any bleeds hit on kk will be transferred to the tank.
This can lead to the tank being hit with bleeds up to 3500.
(talk about painfull!). And ultimates can cause kk to use
barricade and block all damage, or immortality (which revives
him back with a large hunk of hp)
**=huge no-no's

How the fight goes down.
-He spawns the minions twice during the fight; at 75% health
(195000) and again at 25% health (65000). If your job is a
DPS'R, your priority should be to kill these as soon as they
spawn.
Kalphite King has several Special attacks:
-Instant kill: This is the most deadly ability the king uses.
The target player will glow green colour and will be killed
after a few seconds. The player is stunned, and they will not be
able to teleport or use abilities. The cooldown of all abilities
will be reset to 0, even if you had just used that ability.
-Stomp: Standing under the King for long time periods causes
rapid hits of 1000 until you move out from under him;
-Charge: The King only uses this attack during his melee and
magic phases. The hit is classified as classless and hits up to
3600. He will glow a bit and rear back when doing this.
-Digging: The king will dig into the sand and re-appear under
the player it is targeting. The targeted player must get away
from the King otherwise they will be knocked back and be dealt
with up to 5000 lifepoint's worth of damage. This attack will
override any abilties used to heal/block it.
-If you enter and exit the King's lair multiple times in the
same fight, you will be dealt over 1000 damage as you enter the
lair again.
-Red glowing aura: Any damage dealt by KK will cause it to heal
it by the amount it would have hit if no protection prayers or
other damage reduction buffs were in effect.
-Green glowing aura: Heals instead of taking damage for the
duration of the aura. May also activate it if Frenzy or Unload
is used. STOP ATTACKING AS SOON AS YOU SEE THIS!!!!
Conclusion
Well, hope you enjoyed the read and found it at least a little
helpful. The best thing I can say to do is jump out there and
try it! The stuff that isn't covored you can learn from doing,
and the stuff that is covored is also learned from doing. Thank
you to anyone that has helped me edit the guide and keep it up
to date! Have fun, good luck, and feel free to ask me anything!
