Josh took over the bridge just two hours ago from getting some
sleep, then the captain asked for an update. "Sir we're about
ten minutes away from coming out of warp. We're an hour away
from Cardassia IV, long range scans are negative so far but
there are plenty of moons and asteroids to hide behind."

Maria walked out of the bathroom after showering and saw B'Ozian
still sat at the foot of her bed.
She walked half way to him then stopping, turned back around,
and sitting on her chair in the corner.
"I'm sorry." She said looking at him, coming to the conclusion
that he was ashamed to be there.

He turned to see her walk in and was about to smile when she
turned and walked away. He stood slowly and walked to her chair
standing behind her he rested his hands on her shoulders and
leaned closer "What are you sorry for? My only regret is not
telling you sooner" He ran his nose along her shoulders and
breathed in the scent of her body and hair. "Are you ashamed of
what happened"? He hoped the answer was no as he wanted to spend
more time with her. "Promise me oine thing no matter what
happens with us, do not change the type of officer you are".

[B]The Edwards Quarters[/B]
Edward stirred in bed and turned over and held Brooke and smiled
as he held her in his arms. He was still asleep not reasy to
wake up yet.

Brooke felt her husband's arm around her as he held her, there
was nothing better than being in his warm embrace and part of
her was quite happy to stay there all day but knew they would
have to get up soon ready for another day in their respective
departments especially as the ship would soon be arriving at
Cardassia IV. But for now she wanted to enjoy these last few
moments before they did and moved closer into her husbands
embrace "Morning you" she whispered gently.

"I'm not going to change who I am." She stated then standing up
and walking to the other side of the room, before continuing
"Perhaps this was a mistake. Maybe I should have been
professional and threw my feelings aside..." She said then
turning back to him as tears flew down her face. She then
finished in a slightly raised voice, due to being upset, "All
you're going to do is leave me behind like my parents did."

straight again and followed her across the room. He took her by
the arm and spun her round to face him, as he saw the tears he
raised his hand and gently brushed them away.
" I have no intention of abandoning you, even though we have not
said anything before you have become the best friend and advisor
I have ever had". He took hold of both her arms as he looked at
her before lowering his mouth to hers and gently kissing her.
"I promise you I will not leave you as long as you promise the
same to me".

Maria let him kiss her and speak, but then she took a step away
from him, and walked to the door, with her head facing the
floor.
As the door opened, she kept her head lowered and said, "I think
you should leave Captain."

He stepped towards the door and as he drew level with her rested
one giant hand on her shoulder, "Maria I will leave for now as
we are on duty very shortly, but this is not over and I will
earn the trust you deserve to have from someone who believes in
you".
He stepped outside and was about to walk to his own quarters
when he turned sharply and placed his hand on the door frame
stopping the door closing "Maria I want you to feel safe around
me, to feel wanted and cared for in a way humans refer to as
love". With that he turned and started to head to his quarters,
his head hanging low as he thought he had just made his worst
fears come true and by following his emotions had alienated the
last person he wanted to ever lose.

Maria looked up to B'Ozian as he spoke this time, letting the
tears dry up on her face. Just as the door was about to shut,
she quickly opened it again, and walked out behind B'Ozian and
turned him around, then cuddling into him, without saying a
word.
