[Bridge]
About that time Droba arrived on the bridge hardly stuffed into
her uniform.
"You bloody kidding me! A drill the day after we launch? You
bananas? We'd be lucky to have half the ship's systems running
at 50% efficiency with a new crew and we decided to stress-test
them? That's how crews grow to resent these kinds of
activities." She said, a ball of nerves.
They should have run a partial systems test, localized drills,
rather than some big "all hands on deck" affair. She was no
psychologist- but she knew how to read people well enough to
know that this had pissed more than a few people off. Hell- half
of them were STILL probably nursing headaches from the night
before. This was cruel and unusual punishment by her standards.
"I'll be in the briefing room..." She grumbled and slogged off
to take a seat at the table, finding a small box to use as a
booster for her to sit on so she could fit in the hu-mon sized
chairs.

Jacob took several calm breaths as the lift moved him and Brooke
to the Bridge. Suddenly, he heard Commander Shepard announced
that what was going in was just a drill. Jacob sighed heavily
and looked up. "Halt Turbolift." He called out.
He turned to face Brooke and said to her. "So...just a drill.
Wow."

Josh smiled a little. It is true to a sense of just coming out
of space dock, but he wanted to test the crews responses. He
knew that he probably fell out of favor with some of them but in
his mind what would've happened if this wasn't a drill. They
couldn't say why are you doing this? We just came out of space
dock. He didn't cast away Droba's concern or irritation but he
knew what he did needed to be done. Josh turned to his brother.
"You have the bridge" He then walked into the briefing room.
Briefing Room
He walked up to Droba and stood a good distance from her.
"Excuse me Lieutenant but why would you say such things on the
bridge in full ear shot of the rest of the crew. If you have
anything to say to me either good or bad then please by all
means address me in private. I would show you the same
curiosity, but with that being said your department performed
very well."

Turbolift
Brooke looked back at her husband as he called for the lift to
be halted, it was a little frustrating to find out that it was a
just a drill however knew there would of been a reason behind it
besides it showed that at least her and Jacob hadn't forgotten
their training. " Yeah I guess, however I think we should still
report in to show that we responded" she replied.

Droba rolled her eyes. A hu-mon was annoyed about ”protocol” and
“formality” again.
“Look Josh. People respond to one thing. Trust. Trust and money
but as we don’t get money- you’ll have to fall back on trust.
Trust comes from an open dialogue between parties. You either
undress someone when they need to be undressed or you pussy-foot
around the issue to avoid hurting feelings but end up with a
campaign of whispers and misinformation.”
The Ferengi was lecturing, her small sharp teeth visible as she
confidently sat in her seat at the table with the little booster
under her.
“Times of war? Yeah. Save it until later. Times of peace? Let it
flow. Unless I read your rank wrong, we’ve both got 2 pips and
have jobs to do. I’m not going to extend you any special
‘curiosity’. Nor anyone on this ship. It either runs well or you
get an earful. That’s the Federation way. Open dialogue.
Transparency.” She continued, a suave look in her eye that hid a
razor’s edge.
“That is, unless I read the rules and regulations wrong. And I
never miss a thing in a contract.”

"You're right, we are both the same rank, however we did have
lower ranked crew members on the bridge. We can't show them
that's it's ok to question orders or to follow which order they
want to. My methods are my own just as yours are your own. We
should respect each other's wishes and the rank that we share.
So I'm sorry if i upset you but i do stand by my request of not
showing displeasure on the bridge cause I'm sure you wouldn't
have done that to the captain." Josh then pulled a chair out and
sat across the table from her.

Brooke smiled back at her husband, the adrenaline was still
pumping round her body but as soon as he wrapped his arm around
her, she felt herself starting to relax a little. Although she
would feel a lot better once they got to the Bridge and found
out if they were still needed. " Agreed and even if I was
further along than I am now I don't want it to affect my duty
and I would of still of responded with you" She replied as the
lift reached its destination.

"Like you said- your way is your way and mine is mine, so why
are you giving me the second degree here?" She said narrowing
her eyes at him,
"And of course- the Captain is the figure head of the ship. You
gotta play politics. Never antagonize the boss."
Didn't this hu-mon know anything? They thought they were being
SO respectful when all they were doing was hurting their own
chain of command. Everything had to be said behind closed doors
and in carefully worded reports. There was a time for tact and a
time for candor. Brutal. Honest. Candor.

Jacob held Brooke's hand as they stepped off the lift and onto
the Bridge. He said to his wife "We better go to the Briefing
Room as announced. Let our appearance be known."
