Mission 1.0 - Out of the Shadows

USS Atlantis - Nine Lives (Ten Forward]
The war was finally over and the losses had taken their toll on
the crew of the Atlantis, They had lost Captain Grix and so many
others during the war. The ship was still docked at Starbase 378
for repairs and replacement crew to come on board.
B'Ozian had gathered the members of the crew together to let
them know just what was happening with the crew and the ship.
The biggest part of the news was the fact that Maria Sharpe and
himself had been made Captain and First Officer on a permanent
basis.
He rose to his feet with a glass in his hand "Crew of the USS
Atlantis, The Shadows of war are lifted and we have been
assigned to get back to what we all joined Starfleet to do, We
are going back to exploration, As such we have been given a task
to head towards the Beta Quadrant and chart the area, I
anticipate many first contacts and exciting times ahead "
He then raised his glass and looked to all the faces gathered in
the room "I propose a toast to those we have lost and hope they
can now rest in peace, I also want to thank every one of you for
your service and look forward to serving with you all in the
friendlier times".
He tipped the glass to his mouth and drained it before once
again facing the crew "But tonight we have time to ourselves to
eat and drink and celebrate the end of the war "

A large Klingon dressed in Starfleet uniform entered the Nine
Lives. He looked across the large room looking for the captain.
He asked a bartender where the captain was and he pointed in
his general direction. So he walked over in that direction and
ended up standing beside the captain.
Sir, LT KnodwI Shepard reporting for duty, and it is an honor to
serve with you and this fine crew.
He was hold his transfer records from the USS HOOD. He stood
there awaiting his orders from the captain.

Josh entered the 9 lives club. He was dressed in his duty
uniform, with the full rank of Lieutenant pips on his collar.
He saw his brother speaking to their new commanding officer. He
walked over to them both. He snapped to attention. "Sir
Lieutenant Joshua Shepard reporting for duty sir. " He handed
the captain A PADD with his transfer orders.

"Gentlemen, Thank you for joining us " The six foot Six Caitian
raised himself to his full height and then gestured over to
Maria who was standing among the gathered crew "Commander Sharpe
will deal with your transfer orders, you are just in time to
join us for a meal" It was a simple gesture but one that B'Ozian
hoped the crew picked up on.
The Captain had come to rely on his former acting First Officer
and in truth without her he doubted the ship would run at all
and he knew that he certainly would not have the time to put in
to the things he needed to do and despite the difference in
their sizes he knew better than to take her on in an argument.
He bowed his head towards the XO and then spoke once more
"Commander some paper work for you, for in the morning, I was
gpoing to save this until later but you are now officially my
First Office ".
Not many humans had gained the respect of the Caitian in the way
Maria had not only was she the best XO he could have wished for
she was also his friend and his best advisor,

"Here Here" Brooke replied looking over at her friend as she
joined in with the toast from behind the bar. They had been
through so much and now was the time for the crew to finally
relax and enjoy themselves before they left the Starbase. The
end of the war also meant another new change for her too not
only had she married the love of her life Jacob but she was also
expecting their first child and for the first time in a long
time felt excited about the future. Setting her glass of soda
down she looked to her husband " You never know we might finally
get a honeymoon" She said grinning.

Maria walked over to the three men and took the 'paperwork' from
him.
"I'll do it now sir. It's no problem." She smiled at him and
then walked out of the room
Sharpe's Quarter's.
Walking into her quarters, she placed the PADD's on her desk,
and swung into the chair and sat back into it, throwing her head
backwards so she was looking at the ceiling.

Josh was a little hesitant, he's never been asked to join the
captain for a meal. That was reserved mostly for his senior
staff. "Thank you sir. I would just like to say it's an honor
to serve with you captain. Your reputation proceeds you. One
of my old captains spoke highly of you. I'm sorry to hear about
his death. " Josh wanted to kick himself for opening an old
wound that the captain probably didn't heal from, but wanted to
simply express his condolences.

Nine Lives
Howell entered Nine Lives, holding his transfer orders. Moving
over to the Captain holding out the PADD, he said "Lieutenant
Commander Howell, reporting in Sir."

Jacob held his cup up and nodded. "To our honored dead." He took
a sip of his beverage and sat the cup down. He looked at his
wife and said "I hope so. We could use it." He giggled and
sighed.

Droba was never one to miss a party. She sat her tiny form in
one of the human sized seats, looking like a kid sitting at the
adult table. She's been in the room, sitting at the table, and
waiting for the Captain to finish his speech so she could drink.
She never really got the need for speeches. Tell people to "do
the thing" and they should just kind of "do the thing". It WAS a
grad gesture and she could appreciate that.
"To space and the profits... to science we will make!"
She said with a wry little smile, raising her glass, and
toasting in response to the Captain's offer. Her voice was
high-pitched and a bit squeaky, with only the slightest touch of
the traditional Ferengi "rasp".
She'd been bumped around ships and stations during the way and
had recently received her promotion to the rank of Lieutenant
because, somehow, wherever she went the base or ship always
ended up with more "stuff" (value wise) than it began with...
despite being at war. It was a weird quirk and, though she had
TRIED to explain it a dozen times to a dozen officers and
investigators, these hu-mons never quite "got it". They all
eventually shrugged, accepted that it was "Ferengi money magic"
or something and probably thought it would be better for their
careers if they didn't know. It was simple really- by locking-in
futures associated with enemies or planets that were going to be
involved in war she could buy things low and resell them at a
MUCH higher price to non-involved parties or at no price to the
Federation- thus making MORE from less. It was all above board.
At least by hu-mon standards...
