==This takes place minutes after the conclusion of the meeting,
with the Valor command team and Adm Brown.==
William entered his quarters after the meeting with the Valor
Command staff, needless to say it hadn't gone without a hitch.
A Captain blatantly countermanding a direct order didn't sit
well, in fact if he'd had the chance Shepard would have been
relieved of command for such behaviour. Hunter might have been
a hard ass, but so soon after the Dominion war he knew Captains
were in short supply.
He placed the Padds he'd taken from the meeting and observed one
of the senior officers profile. Lieutenant Kira Wyman, she'd
had a varied career and suffered a recent demotion. But from
what he could tell she was ambitious and eager to get back into
a command role. That eagerness formed into an idea for the
Admiral, who promptly touched his comm badge.

Hunter's Cabin
Kira walked up to the cabin and knocked on the door. She always
preferred a knock to a bell, she waited until she was replied to
and then entered the cabin. "Lieutenant Wyman. You wanted to see
me admiral?" She asked, stopping before him and presenting
herself in a professional manner.

When Hunter heard the knock at the door, he was confused as to
why the chime wasn't used. However he didn't pay it much
thought, instead he walked to the portal and the doors parted to
reveal a young red shirted Lieutenant. She was stood in a
professional pose and identified herself as Lieutenant Wyman.
"I do indeed Lieutenant, please step inside." He said standing
to one side for her to enter, once she was in the Admiral held
down the lock control and blocked off the outside world.
"Please Lieutenant have a seat, anywhere you like!" Bill said
gesturing to his sofa and two armchairs. He in turn walked to
one of the arm chairs and sat himself down. In front was a
coffee table with the padds on it, Kira's was on the top, he
lifted it and perused the contents again.
Lowering the padd and locking his steely gaze onto the
Lieutenant, he gave a twitch of a half smile. "I see you've had
something of a varied career Lieutenant and recently suffered a
rank reduction, with the possibility of gaining back your
seniority?"

been fairly varied. I've spent time in, security, operations,
command and now in JAG." She paused for a moment to let it sink
in then continued. "And yes, I did recently take a rank
reduction to take this position in JAG. The position was
courtesy of rear admiral Kevin Duras, I believe." Kira observed
the gaze and smiled back at the man, unchanged by the man who
appeared to be quite intimidating.

"So I see Lieutenant, not so sure why he would consider it a
courtesy." He placed the padd on the desk and sat back, then he
observed the Lieutenant for a long moment. "Well this is
something you might not be aware of Miss Wyman, certain posts
like that of the JAG are what as known as terminal posts." He
allowed a moment for that to sink in. "What that means is
basically if you got to the top of JAG, which is the at maximum
the rank of Rear Admiral Upper Half." He said gesturing to his
own rank insignia. "Well that is as far as you will go." He
shook his head. "I see more than that in you, you're ambitious,
smart." Bill rose a hand hoping his point was made. "You can
go a lot further Lieutenant, I don't need to tell you that the
fleet needs good officers. Out there." He said thumbing over
his shoulder towards the windows, which had a view of stars.
"Not riding a computer terminal for a career."
Again allowing his words to sink in, the Admiral stood up and
moved to the replicator. "Would you like a drink Lieutenant?"
He asked.

Kira paused for a moment. A feeling of realisation came over
her. 'A department change.' Kira thought, sitting back in the
chair and smiling. "I thank you admiral, but it has been nice to
take a step back for a while, I have a farm to run on top of my
work. However," Kira sat forward in the chair and then
continued. "I would be willing to take a new assignment."
Kira nodded at the chance of getting a drink. "Synthetic scotch
whiskey please, admiral." Kira finished, waiting for the admiral
to return to the chairs.

Bill was impressed by the Lieutenant, though it wasn't difficult
to deduce what he was driving at. He also liked the fact that
she had the courage to talk about it, most wouldn't have spoken
out loud about an assumption. However Kira's assumption and
words had paid off for her. "Computer tea with milk and double
sweet, also a synthetic scotch whiskey." The replicator slot
lit up and the shimmering of a mini transporter effect appeared.
A few seconds later the two drinks were produced, Hunter
collected them and put Kira's before her and then returned to
his chair. "It must be difficult to run a farm and have a
career too and as for the new assignment, this is not a simple
hand out Lieutenant." He sat back again and took a sip of his
drink. "As a former and prospective command officer, you are in
a unique position to notice if corners are being cut. Or if
information is simply not being passed on, which I fear might be
the case on the Valor." Placing the cup down on the coffee
table, he eyed the Lieutenant closely. "I am offering you the
position of Chief Conn Officer, the ship is under my direct
command now and this can happen in an instant. But this is the
condition Lieutenant, you are to report to me about any
information not being passed on. The Valor is going to be on a
critical assignment and I need EVERY piece of information that
is discovered, no matter how small it is." He took a breath and
added. "This is your best chance at getting back into a line
officers position, take it or leave Kira!"

"Yes Lieutenant I want you to fly the ship and where possible
volunteer for duties at ops, you have the abilities and I would
like to see them in use!" Bill replied while she replied about
needing her drink and downing it. Then as expected she had
questions, or perhaps reservations. "Well to your first
question, that is what I want you to find out Lieutenant and let
me know." A smile creased his face. "As for your second
query." He stood up and moved to a cabinet by the replicator,
opening one of the small top drawers he removed a small
isolinear chip. He then turned back to Kira and handed her the
device, it looked old and past its prime. "Looks old but it's
brand new, all you do is slide that into your personal computer
and it will take care of the rest. It will mask any traces of
your communiques with me and auto connect you when inserted."
He returned to his chair and grabbed his drink again. "We used
them during the war and they have proved invaluable, as I hope
you will be to me!"
