A Leap Of Faith

In orbit around Baku
The USS Valor is currently in orbit around the planet of Baku
following their recent mission to investigate the Briar Patch to
find the source of the virus that has been responsible for
infecting and killing many non humans and also their encounter
with both the S'ona and Tholian's. They have been ordered to
remain where they are and await the arrival of Admiral Brown and
their new crew members who are aboard the Excelsior class escort
ship the USS Essex.

Captain's Ready Room
Josh was in his ready room, he was sitting in his chair behind
his desk. "Captains log 52018.21 we've just completed a mission
on Ba'ku. We've discovered that the So'na and Tholians are
working together with this virus that has been affecting non
humans within the Federation. We've been ordered to remain in
orbit and rendezvous with the starship Essex carrying Admiral
Brown and two new officers that will replace our current
department heads for those departments. With the down time I'm
pleased to announce that Ensign Strike has been promoted to
Lieutenant and Lieutenant Ingram has completed her psychology
classes and has now been made as the Valors new ship conseular."
Josh ended his log and exited his ready room.
Bridge
Josh stepped onto the bridge and noticed his first officer
sitting in his chair. Josh walked over and sat down. "I've read
your report commander. Has there been any word from our since
team how long that Tholian base has been on the planet?"

[USS Essex – Dyson Temporary Quarter's.]
Maria sat on the floor with five of their six kittens, while
B'Ozian was changing the sixth.
It had been a busy time for B'Ozian and Maria. They had left
Starfleet what seemed like a lifetime ago, when Maria had became
pregnant with their first litter of Kittens. This litter
consisted of Arya and T'Cait, two beautiful, strong girls. This
pregnancy had came with little to no complications, other than
the fact it wore Maria out.
After giving birth to Arya and T'Cait, B'Ozian and Maria
remained out of Starfleet, to make sure that the kittens were
healthy, as it was apparently uncommon for a human and Caitian
to successfully conceive babies, which had been proved wrong
when the kittens were born naturally and seemed healthy as any
other child.
Six months after having Arya and T'Cait, Maria had a fall while
B'Ozian was out with some friends, and found Maria on the floor
when he got back, with the kittens screaming in their cribs.
After the Doctor visiting, this was put down to Maria being
pregnant with four babies and her body was readjusting to make
room. After this one incident, nothing else happened and the
doctor was satisfied that it was all to do with her body
changing and allowed Maria to continue her daily business, with
more caution of six month's old's around her stomach, though
they were no bother and seemed to have naturally picked up on
her body change and therefore been more gentle.
After a few more strenuous months, Maria went into labour, this
time with some difficulty. The first three kittens were born
well, but with them all fighting for room, the fourth had not
turned to the right direction. In the end, Maria gave birth to
the fifth child and earned her long earned rest after all the
struggle with the fourth kitten.
The second litter brought two more girls and two boys. Male
Caitian's are rarer than females, which meant that the two boys
were a shock to the Doctor, who seemingly didn't know what she
was doing, as she didn't seem to have any sort of knowledge of
labour, which in turn was not a help when it came to the fourth
child.
After her rest, Maria and the kittens left the hospital and
returned to B'Ozian, T'Cait and Arya. Once they were together,
B'Ozian and Maria worked together looking after T'Cait, Arya,
V'Alencia, Skye, James and Brandy.
As well as looking after the kittens, Maria also began studying
to become a Doctor, after the struggle of her child birth, as
well as wanting to help people more than she used to do when she
was a Science Officer. Being a Science Officer did help her when
learning to be a Doctor, as she had specialised in Exobiology.
Maria looked up from the kittens and towards the bathroom door,
and then rose from the floor before approaching.
“Everything alright?” She asked as she got to the door and then
smiled at B'Ozian and chuckled. “I guess our next lesson for
James is to eat his food rather than wear it.” She stated then
grinning at James and tickling his belly.

Deck 4 - Charlotte's Quarters
Another mission over and Charlotte was getting ready for her
first shift in her new department and it felt good to back in
the familiar teal instead of the gold that she had gotten
accustomed too when she first was assigned to the Valor. Being
Chief of Ops was only a temporary assignment and faced with the
prospect of going back to the Starbase she had decided to
retrain and finally passed the requirements needed to become
ships counselor. It was something she hadn't thought of
initially but with ending her relationship with Patrick she
didn't want to go back and have to see him everyday and there
was also a need to stay where she was because of what could
possibly develop between her and Captain Shepard. She had seen
him differently ever since he had comforted her after the
breakup and if something where to happen then she wasn't going
to give up the chance of actually being happy again. But until
then she had to focus on work and the prospect of seeing Patrick
again when he arrived on the Essex and hoped she would be able
to hide away. She took one final look in the mirror and
satisfied she was ready headed out of her quarters for the
nearest turbolift.

Deck 2 - The Edward's Quarters
Brooke had intended on getting ready for not only her next duty
shift but to also take Caia Mae to the childminder however that
intention soon went out of the window when she found herself in
the bathroom throwing up instead. She couldn't quite explain why
she had felt ill and why it was happening now as the last time
she had been this way was when she first fell pregnant with
their daughter. As soon as that thought entered her head she
fell back onto the cold bathroom floor thinking she had to be
wrong and that this was simply some kind of bug that she had
picked up. Shaking her head to clear her mind of those thoughts
she tried to get back up but something kept her routed to the
floor and hoped that Jacob would walk in about now.

"And something more solid would be a good idea too" he looked
towards the diaper on the bench and also James' clothes that he
was ready to put in the recycling along with his uniform
undershirt "How does so much come out of one so small"?
B'Ozian was proud of his family and his wife and how while they
had been away had managed to become a Doctor as well as raise
the kittens, granted he had been around to help but it was
really her that had raised them on her own.
He loved playing with the kittens but he was also going stir
crazy not being out in space and that was why they ha reapplied
to have their commissions activated.
Now they were on their way to meet the USS Valor to take up
their new positions on the ship and being escorted there by none
other than Admiral Brown.
"Maria, I don't know the last time i said this but i love you
and am proud of you". he leaned over and kissed her on the head.

[Mess Hall]
Cormoran Strike sat in the mess look out the window. His
coffee sat forgotten. Next to it was a little black box
containing a single gold pip. He found that was harder to
forget. It filled his mind with question he was to scared to
ask.
But he just couldn't just, as the old saying goes, 'take the
money and run.' He didn't understand the promotion. And he
wasn't sure if this would be good for his career. He was new,
still green as they say. Any other ship he was posted to in
the future would look at his record. And see what was done here
and would have question he wouldn't have answers too.
When the commander present the then Ensign Strike with the box
and promotion. He was too stunned to say anything but 'thank'.
But now after some time to think, he needed some questions
answered.
Cormoran picked up the now cold coffee and drink it down. Then
grabbed the box and head out the door to the bridge.
[Bridge]
He entered the bride so
seeing the commander at once the only problem was he was
talking to the captain. Or was it maybe it would be better to
talk to him. A promotion like this could only be made with the
captain permission. It may have been his doing in the first
place.
But the commander was the one he got the promotion through. He
have to play by ear. So Cormoran stood waiting for an
opportunity to speak with one of them.

Josh asked the question to Brown but before he could answer he
looked up and saw the newly promoted Lieutenant Strike but
noticed he wasn't wearing his new pip. "Yes lieutenant is there
anything i can help you with."

He was hoping too have more time to organize his thoughts.
"I was... hope for a private word with the commander, sir. But
I easily talk to either of you. It about my promotion." He
said.

John looked at the Lieutenant then at the Captain
"If you wish to speak to the Lieutenant be my guest i have no
