John nodded to the XO and awaited orders as the XO then spoke to
the CSO.

John listened to CSO's report with great interest in the life
signs.

At that moment there was a loud shrill the echoed in the bay and
the XO made his way out to look around.

John followed the XO phaser out andlooking around the whold time
as he asked about the sound but before he spoke both of the
other officers did first.
--- Quote from: Maura Stewart link ---

her surroundings as they walked slowly through the bay, stopping
briefly as the loud shrill whistle sounded through the
corridors. When the XO looked at them and wondered what it could
be, Maura thought the noise seemed familiar but until they got
further into the ship or something was detected on the tricorder
she couldn't be a hundred percent certain. " It reminds me of
the forward manifolds when they overheat and malfunction but I
could be wrong" she offered wanting to be useful.

flew down Maria's spin. When the Commander asked what it was,
she looked up.

manifolds... Although I do get where you are coming from." She
said then continuing after taking a breath, "I have no idea what
it is, but I think it's best we find out before too long, incase
it's something that could harm us."

help the Benzites and get far far away from the ever growing
eeriness of the freighter.

John listed to both of the officers and looked at the XO and
spoke. "Sir I agree with Ms. Sharpe, it maybe a Manifold like
Ms. Stewart suggested or it could be somthing else." he said
still looking around but staying close to the group.

the Captain arrive. He looked some what scruffy as he had his
sleeves rolled up and the zip slightly undone on his uniform
jacket, a typical engineering thing. He was also quite surprised
that the Captain was somewhat blunt about the situation. Jumping
down from the roof of the lift, he replied "Captain, I am sure
about these components, I don't know how old they are, but I can
tell you they aren't a month old." Picking up a bracket from the
turbolift floor, he showed it to the Captain continuing in a
much softer voice, so only Captain Anderson could hear him "This
bracket latches the bolts and runners to the cables. This is one
of the components that broke and caused the lift to decent
rapidly. I'd expect to see this on a ship that was probably
nearing it's 5 yearly service."

Deck 12 - Section 21B
Anderson had noticed the Chief's breach of regulations, when it
came to the wearing of his uniform. However John wasn't a fool,
he knew how hot an Engineers job could be, especially cramped
into a confined space. Likewise there'd been times in his own
career, where it was impractical to wear the uniform properly.
That said the Captain made no comment to Dan's appearance, as he
understood it was 'one of those times'.
The response from the Chief brought both of their attention to a
component, that Howell had obviously removed from the turbolift.
It didn't look quite right even to Anderson, who was not an
Engineer, he couldn't put his finger quite on what was catching
his attention. However the Chief was adamant about its condition
and for all intents and purposes he was the expert, so that was
enough for the Captain to take him at his word.
Keep an equally low voice, John replied. "Is it just that or are
any of the surrounding systems in a similar condition?"

Chucking the bracket back into the turbolift, Dan maintained his
low voice replying "Well I found what looked like a couple of re
conditioned isolinear chips, which would explain why the
magnetic distortion affected the computers."

Maria was tempted to say something about Mr. Harriman calling
her Ms. Sharpe, but decided now wasn't the time, so she just
turned to Commander Brown.
"Whatever it is, we should find out what it is." She stated. "I
would possibly recommend splitting up into two teams, and then
uniting in the middle, keeping comms open." She finished, hoping
to help the Commander.

Mess hall
Josh walked into the mess hall of the Churchill. It's been a few
days since the Andorian quarantine violation and the verdict
that demoted him to the rank of Commander and put the Atlantis
in drydock under strict quarantine.
Captain Shepard in regards to you saving another vessel and her
crew from death, you put yourself and your crew in harms way.
You safeguarded your alien crew, however this does not change
the fact that you disobeyed a direct order and violated a strict
quarantine. You are hereby demoted to the rank of Commander. You
are assigned to the Churchill with what ever posting she has.
This is only temporary until either the Atlantis is cleared, or
another ship is available but this punishmentwill last for a
minimum of six months.
Josh walked over to the replicator and sat down. He thought he
could see people watching him, at one time he thought he heard
someone laugh at him for the demotion, but he thought best to
just let it go for now.

Deck 12 - Section 21B
Anderson sighed at what the Commander had said, he reached up
and grabbed the bridge of his nose. "This doesn't sound good, I
hope there is a reasonable explanation, such as some kind of
spatial anomaly." Letting his nose go the Captain added. "Please
do what you need to here Commander, I want a detailed report
including the fitting logs of these parts." As the CO turned to
walk back to the turbolift, he said over his shoulder. "This
stays between the two of us for now Dan." On that he was gone.

Mess Hall
Brooke had spent the last few days in a kind of haze as she
tried to adjust to what had happened although one thing was for
certain and that had been her determination to stand by her
former CO and to keep her family together. Nothing would keep
her away from her husband especially now that she was almost 6
and a half months pregnant and she didn't feel any guilt or
anger towards those higher up and saw this as an opportunity to
return to what she did best and rebuild coming back stronger
than before. With Jacob being busy and her cravings on overload
she had decided to grab something to eat before starting her
shift on the Bridge. Walking into the mess hall she headed for
one of the replicators and ordered a burger with all of the
works, fries and fresh orange juice then as she picked up her
tray smiled when she saw Josh at one of the tables and went over
to him. " Mind if I join you ?" she asked.

Josh looked up when he heard Brooke's voice asking to join him.
"Of course comm...." he had to stop himself. "Of course
Lieutenant." Josh knew she should only have been brought down to
Lieutenant Commander, but there was no available positions on
the churchill for that rank and with her being pregnant she
wanted to be close to her husband. "So how's everyone adjusting
to my mistake?" Josh asked with a bitter sound in his voice.

Brooke didn't say anything when he almost called her Commander
knowing that she would of done the same but did hear the
bitterness in his voice as she sat down opposite him. " It
wasn't a mistake Commander, we couldn't of left them in there
and I had plenty of opportunity to stop you but sometimes we
have to go with our gut instincts, I trusted your decision and
we did the right thing " she replied honestly looking over at
him. " I can't speak for the others but we're adjusting okay and
I'm taking it easy with our junior officer here being a lot more
active " she said with a hint of a smile.

Josh smiled back at her. "I just hope that the Atlantis will be
cleared soon, i haven't sat at the helm in nearly eighteen
years. It's a strange adjustment. How is Jacob taking his new
role as assistant chief engineer?" Josh asked before taking a
bite of hours burger.
