heard the Security Chief ask her about the defences. " One
moment Commander, I just need to compensate for the interference
from the asteroid field " she replied readjusting the scanners
slightly " From what I can tell, standard phasers, but they
don't appear to have any shields raised".

John nodded "Thank you Ensign I just want to be sure." he said
happy with the readings.

"No problem Commander, I'll let you know if anything changes"
Maura replied returning her focus to the panel. She understood
why he wanted to be sure and so far everything seemed okay as
they continued their approach but Maura knew anything could
happen and that it could change at a split second.

Bridge
Anderson brought his hand up to his chin, he then began to rub
it as he thought about the situation. It was odd that the ship
was running silent, apart from transmitting an ident signal.
"This doesn't make any sense." The Captain declared moving to
the command chair and sitting down. The Shuttle was well on its
way to the smaller vessel, John was reluctant to leave them but
felt it might be necessary.
"Mr Bozian." John began with a breath. "Move us towards the
Washington and send a text message to the shuttle, text only and
notify them we are moving away to investigate another vessel."

SEVERAL MINUTES LATER
The Churchill in on route towards the defiant class vessel, her
calls have gone unanswered.
As the shuttle got closer to the Benzite freighter, there were
obvious signs of hull stress and buckling, though there is no
carbon scoring or weapons damage.
The shuttle has landed in the cramped shuttlebay of the
freighter, internally the ship shows signs of degradation and
weapons fire.
Nobody has greeted the shuttle and the lifesigns are very week.

"Still no answer Sir, Sensors detect no damage or signs of any
comm interference" B'Ozian ran a hand through his mane of hair
and pointed to the screen.
"Sir, I would suggest we treat the ship as hostile until they
make contact, Also sir they have not adjusted course to
compensate towards us, they are continuing on the same heading",
He looked towards Captain Anderson and raised an eyebrow his
senses telling him that nothing good could come of it.

John had sat silently in the command chair, his thoughts were
between his crew on the shuttle, in fact they were his primary
concern. The other thing on his mind was the Washington, what
was she up to?
Bozian broke the silence, which in turn drew a frown from the
Captain. "Hostile Lieutenant?, there could be a simple
explanation to this, it might well be they haven't noticed their
ident is on." Though Anderson didn't really believe that of an
intelligence ship, but mistakes were known to happen. "We must
remember the war is over Lieutenant, however take us to yellow
alert and continue to hail them." A half smile crossed John's
face. "Also tell them if they don't respond, we will tail them
and transmit their coordinates to every Starfleet facility we
come across."
Once again feeling uncomfortable in the chair, John stood up and
walked to the left side of ops. "Incidentally where will their
current course take them?"

[Shuttle]
After they were closer and now in the ship they found out it was
a Benzite freighter. John looked out the front window at the
signs of degradation and weapons fire. He looked to the XO and
spoke. "Sir permission to check the bay?" he asked wanting to
know what happened on the ship.

Sickbay
After taking his own little refresher course, Christopher made
his way into the Sickbay. He wanted to make sure everything was
ready for the worst case scenario and so far it looked to be all
good, he smiled satisfied at the job his team had done so far
and looked forward to working with them for the foreseeable
future.
A young crewman walked up to the lieutenant and smiled at him.
'Are you free lieutenant, there's a patient that needs a routine
check up.' Christopher nodded in acknowledgement and took a
medical tricorder with him. "Time to get into action." He said
to himself, grinning slightly.

Shuttle Galileo - Benzite Freighter
Maura had remained at her console keeping the systems on low
should they need to make a quick exit. The Freighter had
reminded her of those she had served on and boarded before but
seeing it so quiet and the damage caused unnerved her slightly
and wondered who or what could of done such a thing. But that
thought sent a feeling of dread through her however hoped that
they could at least find some answers when they left the
shuttle.
