Mission 1.1 - The Passenger
DIR By: John Anderson

USS Churchill - Bridge
"Captains Log supplemental,
After our week long journey to Sector 441 the Churchill has
completed her first flight, we are now on final approach to
Starbase 378. There the final members of the ships crew will
come aboard, I look forward to getting to know them and this
fine vessel better.
On a personal note, it's still a strange feeling being the
Captain of a starship. I'm feel excitement and apprehension at
the same time, I would imagine anybody who assumes command of
others would feel the same, knowing the cost of failure will be
high.
Anderson sat uncomfortably in the command chair, a luxurious
large padded seat with a medium blue fabric covering. It wasn't
actually that the chair itself was uncomfortable, it was the
Captains personal comfort that was the issue. He'd noticed most
Captains had a particular posture in their center seat, he had
yet to find one of his own. Sitting forward and resting his
elbows on his knees made him feel like he would spill out of the
chair, it also made him think of gangster from twentieth century
movies and that did not suit him at all. Sitting back and
holding the command consoles on each arm, that made him feel
like a slob. Standing up and turning to face the chair, John
took a breath and shook his head at the chair.
The Ensign at the Ops station turned and observed the Captain
for a moment, frowning for a moment though it went unseen.
"Excuse me Captain, we have been cleared to dock by station ops
and should be docked in eight minutes."
John turned and faced the ops officer, he gave a flat smile and
replied. "Thank you Ensign, Helm." His attention moved to the
helmsman. "Take us to thrusters and take us in if you will."
The Captain turned back to the center seat, but he didn't sit in
it. Instead he raised a dismissive hand and waved off the idea
of sitting, he turned back to the view screen and watched 378
get larger.
At the back of his mind, John was thinking about the Andorian
system, though he was not trying to dwell on that situation. It
was there though none the less, Andoria under quarantine and the
possibility of the affliction being a deliberate act.

John turned to his right, where Brown was at the Tactical
station. Anderson nodded in agreement to the Lieutenant, as
usual the two men seemed to shadow each others thoughts.
"Absolutely, essential personnel only. Any breaches will be met
with severe repercussions."
The Captain moved to the tactical console and put his hands on
it leaning forward to Brown. He still had a little concern about
his friend, but hopefully it wouldn't need to be more than mild
apprehension. "What are your thoughts on the fleet wide alert?"

John looked at his friend and took a breath his mind flooded
with his experiences.
"Honesty Captian; it seems a bit convinent from the recent
political unrest the core worlds are experiencing could be an
act of terrorism could be anything minor that it happened at the
same time but we must be viligent as if were not we could be
caught with our pants down" Finished John taking a breath "On a
personal note do I have to board the Starbase?; you know who is
Sector Commander right" Finished Brown

"You're right Lieutenant, an open mind is what we need at all
times." Anderson replied initially as he turned back towards the
center seat, but Brown spoke once again, thus drawing the
Captains attention back to the tactical officer. John was well
aware of who the Sector Commander was, it was Brown's elder
Brother Patrick. Although he wasn't aware of the specifics,
Anderson knew of some bad blood between to two siblings. The
Captain gave a flat smile for a moment, before shaking his head.
"No you can stay on the ship if you wish, in fact you're
technically my First Officer at the moment. It'd be just as well
to have someone stay onboard and in command."
Anderson thought about Patrick Brown for a moment, the two men
had met during the war, when Patrick was a Major in the now
disbanded Starfleet Marine Corps. It was an odd turn of events,
that Patrick had quickly made it to Rear Admiral, but that was
the condition of the fleet. People were moved ahead of time and
just had to live with it, Anderson himself was an example of
that fact.
"Docking complete Captain." Reported the Ops officer.
"Very well, thank you all." John replied earnestly and moving to
the Captains chair, where he activated the ship P.A system.
=/\=Attention all hands, this is the Captain speaking. We have
now completed docking procedures and are on stand down until
further notice. Libert.....shore leave is granted to those where
duty permits.=/\=

John nodded towards his Captian then looking at his terminal
--- Quote from: Alysia Kelowitz link ---

>
> "Aye Sir." Kelowitz replied promptly sending the text message
to the Churchill, a verbal message would be ill-timed during
docking procedures. As the Admiral left the Operations Center,
Alysia gave a little scowl and wondered about John S Harriman.
Running a check on the man's name, she found that he was a
Lieutenant and the Chief Tactical and Security officer of the
Atlantis. Knowing of the Admiral's wartime past, Kelowitz
assumed that Harriman might have been a war buddy.

=/\=Operations to Security, Admiral Brown requests that
Lieutenant John S Harriman is to be escorted to his office, do
you have anyone free to assist?=/\=

"Sir; the Admiral requests your presence in the Conference Room"
Finished John then taking a breath "Guess I get used to this
thing you called Command " John said with a chuckle

Anderson gave a half smile and nodded. "It'll be a challenge to
see who gets use to it first." He said and then added. "The ship
is yours, Mister Brown, she's still under warranty so please
look after her while I'm gone."
On that the Captain headed for the nearest turbolift, turning
about in the cubicle he called for the appropriate deck.

Transporter Room
After receiving clearance from Security, Maura had beamed aboard
her new ship, keen to forget her short time on the station.
Perhaps it was a good thing this way it would allow her to focus
on her new position and duties without any distractions.
Stepping down from the transporter pad she was greeted by the
transporter chief "Welcome aboard the Churchill"he said
politely. "Thank you its good to be here"Maura replied smiling
as she then walked out into the adjoining corridor where she
headed for the nearest turbo lift.
Deck 4 - Maura's Quarters
A few minutes later the lift stopped at Deck 4 and Maura stepped
out, she walked over to a nearby terminal and after consulting
with the computer found out where she had been allocated
quarters. Opening the door mechanism to her new home, she went
inside and noticed that they were slightly bigger than what she
was used too but knew she would be quite happy here. Dropping
her belongings in the bedroom, she stripped off and walked into
the bathroom deciding to shower and change before reporting to
the Bridge.
