       Captain's Quarters
It'd been a long day for the Captain, but it paid off with a
ship ready to depart drydock. He took a quick look around his
quarters, several crates were occupying the center of the main
living space. Each of them was marked as personal and FAO Capt
John Anderson. John took a breath at the sight of the boxes,
he'd seen sights like it before each assignment in the past. But
this time it was different, the war with the Dominion was over,
but in his mind the war was still going on. Not the kind of war
that meant the taking of lives in battle, but the war to rebuild
and getting aid to those who needed it.
He took a breath and moved to the boxes, he opened the one
marked Fragile. Placing the lid to one side, he looked inside
the container and smiled. Two faces looked back at him and were
smiling, a blonde haired boy and girl, with himself in the
middle. Taking the picture from the box, he held it up and wiped
a spec of dust that had somehow got onto it. The image was taken
two years earlier prior to the Dominion War, when Michael was 8
and Jennifer was 6. That pictures place was as always for his
bedside, making them the first and last thing he'd see each day.
Although the Churchill was still in orbit of Earth, he missed
them both deeply and would have liked nothing more than to go
down to them. But they'd said there goodbyes and to keep doing
so could be detrimental to them.
