"Yes Captain I'll inform you straightaway " Morgan replied
wondering what had happened as Sickbay hadn't been that busy
lately and now they had a patient with an as yet unknown disease
and the new Security Chief on his way not that it was her place
to ask but to simply treat their patients and give them the best
care possible.

Bridge
On a display screen at his station, Ensign Oskin watched a
visual feed of the Type 7 shuttle being towed out of the main
shuttlebay on deck 4 by a workpod that had come over from
Starbase 378. He watched as it cleared the area between the
massive warp nacelles of USS Atlantis before the replacement
shuttle arrived on its own power and keenly manoeuvred into
view, then approached the main shuttlebay as directed shuttlebay
operations. Even though it had been looked over by personnel at
Starbase 378, once it was aboard, technicians from USS Atlantis
would give it an additional inspection before it would be placed
on the active service roster.
Sliding the visual to one side, Alexander focussed on other
resupplying tasks. Once USS Atlantis was under way again, she
would have the theoretical capability to remain on mission for
up to three years independently without having to resupply.

Oskin Alexander reviewed the information available to him on his
console. The past 72 hours had been used efficiently to resupply
and to achieve more comprehensive maintenance on certain system
than what would have been possible in deep space.
Notwithstanding the fact that the crew had not actually been
briefed on a new mission or their next destination, the general
sense onboard was that departure was imminent. Alexander glanced
again over his shoulder and narrowed his eyes at the First
Officer and the injured Lieutenant Harriman, then he looked back
at the plethora of scheduled tasks on his console.
"Commander Edwards," he spoke out, addressing the First Officer.
He hesitated a moment to speak his mind, but he turned around
again and the sight of the gold-collared Lieutenant and the
lingering impression left by the scuffle that had occured
earlier hardened his resolve: "Will this incident..." his eyes
darted towards Lieutenant Harriman, two senior Security Officers
had been compromised and it was plausible that this would hamper
the operational abilities of USS Atlantis, "...postpone our
departure?"
He waited half a second and indicated towards his console, "If
so, we could make optimal use of our stay at Starbase 378 and
perform more maintenance tasks."

Brooke looked away from Lieutenant Harriman when Ensign Oskin
addressed her and spoke of his concerns regarding the incident
that had just occurred and it's effect on the ship. " We're
still scheduled to depart within the next 48 hours Ensign, I
have every faith that maintenance tasks will be completed by
then" she replied with a small smile " As for what has just
happened it will be dealt with before we leave".

Ensign Oskin watched the first officer as she spoke and nodded
at the end of her explanation. "Understood, Commander."
48 hours was ample time to clear many of these tasks on the
schedule without incapacitating the ship through intensive Level
1 diagnostics or physically taking the ship half apart for
maintenance. He scrolled through the list and prioritised some
items that could resolved automatically. Others required
sentient supervision in order to achieve acceptable results.
"Bridge to Commander..." upon selecting one of the tasks, he
opened a channel to the Science lab but he suddenly realised a
new Science Officer had been assigned to USS Atlantis and he had
completely forgotten the man's name. Alexander quickly looked it
up before continuing, "Tekin." He took note of the ethnicity of
the Science Officer's name, "We would like to commence
calibrations on the long-range sensors through the Astrometric
lab. Is your department in a position to coordinate?"
While he waited for a reply, he caught Ensign Kelvan in the
corner of his eye. Realising what other maintenance tasks
remained outstanding and that he could use some help, he
motioned him to come over, whispering, "Do you have a moment,
mister Kelvan?"

Bridge
Ensign Kelvan had decided not to appear distracted all through
the altercation. He only turned his attention momentarily when
Lt Harriman was attacked. But once Lt Shepard was
incapacitated, he simply returned his line of sight back to his
LCARS terminal. Of course, his keen sense of hearing had picked
up every conversation and movement. As a junior officer, it was
not his business to know the internal machinations of those
above him in rank. He tucked his less-dominant arm behind his
back and finger-danced across the surface.

Kelvan turned sideways to look, not recognizing his room mate's
voice due to the lower tone. From the corner of his eye, he
locked his screen and then stepped down to where Ensign Oskin
was. "Ensign Oskin, may I be of assistance?"

As he continued his conversation with Commander Tekin, Alexander
indicated a display on his console for the Vulcan engineer to
review. Most of the firing protocols for both phaser and torpedo
systems had received software upgrades and Lieutenants Harriman
and Shepard had been about to run diagnostics and calibrations
when the incident happened. It seemed in the best interest of
the ship and its crew to continue with these tasks despite both
those officers having been incapacitated.
He pointed at these tasks in the list on his console and then
indicated towards Kelvan, then the Tactical station behind the
Captain's chair and changed his body language to a pleading
"Could you?"

The Vulcan nodded, "consider it done Ensign." He walked back up
and settled himself at the apex of the waist-level 'arch' of the
bridge. He input his authentication codes. A few seconds
later, the interface faded grey and an authorisation warning
message appeared.
Warning: Insufficient privileges to perform task. To override,
input overriding officer's IDENT code and stand by...
Ensign Kelvan retrieved a list of all authorised personnel and
selected Oskin, Ensign Alexander.
A few seconds later, the request was redirected to the Bajoran's
station. Kelvan watched, noting the operations manager's
reaction to his request. Almost an instant later, the response
came back and the tactical console was accessible, though only
just the sub-routines that he needed to perform his task. The
first thing to do was to establish the extent of Lt Shepard's
progress. He found the tactical officer's command entry log and
determined that Mr Shepard had initiated several... unusual
command sub-routines, most of which were seemingly unrelated to
the firing protocols, or even tactical systems. This meant that
he had to initiate the task from scratch.
=/.= Ensign Kelvan to main engineering, I am initiating a
preliminary status assessment of the firing protocols to
determine integrity of the recently upgraded software. Once
this is done, I will proceed as per Atlantis software
installation specification SYS-SPEC-A-15. Please acknowledge.

Docking Bay onto USS Atlantis
Reava had just gotten the news of being assigned as the new head
physician temporarily. The moment she entered onto the ship she
was to report to sick bay immediately. Not one to waste time she
walked quickly and soon started jogging as she could read the
troubled minds of those on the ship, for it was hard not to due
to the stress and worry they were all going through and while it
was not a habit of hers to pry she couldn't help but overhear
surface thoughts. Which that explained the temporary hike in
position.
Sickbay
Entering through the doors of sickbay she saw that the staff
were already busy and went up to one of the nurses and instead
of introducing herself Reava immediately fell into the role of
doctor. "What do we have?"

Ensign Morgan looked up from the PADD when a woman in teal
approached her and asked about their patient, she didn't
recognise her but was aware that there had been an influx of new
officers and immediately replied. " Lieutenant Knowdi Shepard
one of our Security officers was brought in sedated after
causing an incident on the Bridge, we believe its some kind of
Klingon disease affecting his mentality but so far we haven't
been able to identify which one" she said offering the PADD. "
We're also waiting for the person he attacked Lieutenant
Harriman to arrive and be checked over".
