Seeing as how the Captain and his away team, with the injected
transponders, would generate two distinct signals, on top of
their life-signs, for the ship's sensors to track, this meant
that any divergence in location between these signals could be
indicative of trouble. Even if the away team found itself in a
position unable to communicate with the ship, this now also
became a manner in which they could signal trouble.

though. Unsure, perhaps. Intimidated by the gathered experience,
certainly.

Josh looked over at Oskin. "Everything ok ensign, you look like
you wanna say something. You've been brought in here to voice
your concerns."

Alexander startled at the Captain's directly addressing him. He
shifted his position in his chair and glanced sideways as he
tried to stall for time in order to gather his thoughts.
Leaning forward in his chair a little, the young man spoke: "It
just seems to me, Captain," that if we keep track of your
combadges and these injected transponders, we could agree to a
covert signal to beam back the away team in case of trouble. If
something were to happen, and you were unable to contact the
ship, you could intentionally throw away your combadge. We
should be able to distinguish a distance of... say... five
metres from orbit. Sensors could agree to immediately beam back
the entire away team if that happens without prior explanation."
A slight grimace brought on solely by the discomfort of having
spoken out came across his face as he leaned back in his chair
again.

"Yes of course ensign that was the point of being injected with
the transponders. They could block communication but these
operate on a different frequency all together and impossible to
track. So yes with the first sign of trouble we'll be beamed on
board. You need to monitor the surface also and watch for
phaser fire if it does some to that. Which i don't believe it
will."

Apologetically, the young Ensign nodded. What he had proposed
had been obvious without his vocalising the idea. He nodded
again embarrassedly and regretted having spoken up.

"Relax ensign we all got what you tried to say, that's why
you're sitting here. To voice your ideas. Ok." Josh taps on
the table with both hands. "Anyone else?"

The young Operations Officer looked up at the Captain's words
and once again nodded. The man was right, of course. The whole
purpose of conferring was to voice perhaps even the obvious.
Starfleet could not afford to have its crews assume matters and
get into trouble as a result of the presumption, just because
the course of action was unclear to even one instrumental member
of the team.

Brooke listened to the exchange between Captain Shepard and
Ensign Oskin before acknowledging Josh, she understood where the
young officer was coming from but at least he had now hopefully
been put at ease " Thank you Captain, I just wanted to make sure
we're well covered and no more questions from me " she replied
shifting slightly in her seat as she received another kick this
time directly beneath her ribs and placed a hand over her bump
hoping to calm things down.

continued to interact. This human male reminded him of a former
freighter pilot from years ago, when Kelvan was exploring the
fringes of the alpha quadrant. Perhaps Ensign Baker would make a
fine candidate for Ensign Oskin and his 'domjot' wager.

Suddenly, an intense wave of nausea swept through the Vulcan,
causing an involuntary convulsion. As Kelvan dropped to one
knee, he grabbed Ensign Baker's forearm, "Sickbay, now."
Kelvan had lost consciousness even before hitting the floor.

Josh looked around the room. "Very well, we have a job to do
so let's get to it. Dismissed." Josh stood up and the others
stood up after him. He watched as Ensign Oskin walked out first
very quickly back to his station. Josh then walked over towards
the window and watched the stars streak by with his arms behind
his back. Thinking about the events that has unfolded with the
Andorians and then with his brother.

Brooke watched as the meeting was dismissed and held back to
speak to the Captain before returning to the Bridge. She slowly
got up from her chair then moved around the table coming to a
stop just behind him. " We have a good crew and I'm sure we'll
get to the bottom of why the Andorian's are so desperate to
leave " she said " However how are you holding up with Knowdi
still in Sickbay ?".
