Jacob grabbed the cadet's hand and shook it. "Pleased to meet
you cadet. I am looking forward to see you in action. So, what
do you think of the Atlantis?"

Shaking his hand Jakx would reply 'Sir, i haven't even been
through the whole ship and you two are the only ones i know on
board as of yet. But i hope it becomes home, and that i will be
able to make a difference.'

Brooke smiled seeing her husband speak to the young cadet, it
showed just how caring he was and how he always made someone
hopefully feel more comfortable. When Cadet Forrester replied
she looked at him " I have every faith that it will become home
and that you are already part of the family " she said "Everyone
brings their own skills and knowledge to their individual roles
and I'm sure you will make a difference as for meeting the
others that will be arranged with a welcome reception for all
new crew members".

" Yes we can do that if you would like Cadet " Brooke replied
looking back at her husband for a moment smiling at his
suggestion. If Cadet Forrester agreed it would then give them
chance to learn more about him and they had plenty of time to
give him a tour now before they had to get ready for the
reception.

'Thank you, a tour would be most useful. Would be better that
walking around the ship blindly and being late for everything.'
Jakx would say 'As for a welcoming committee, is that a standard
thing, i would not want to be getting in the way of other
people's tasks.'

"Your welcome Cadet and my husband knows this ship inside and
out so we'll see that you don't " Brooke replied with a smile.
When he then asked about the welcome reception again she wanted
to put him at ease " You wouldn't be Cadet its for all of the
crew to meet those like yourself who have come over from the
Endeavour and get to know each other informally and we do like
to throw such informal occasions when we can as it helps with
moral and as we've both said we're one big family and we want to
welcome you all properly ".

Jakx would feel at ease with the kind words from Brooke. He
would pull out his Padd and download the ship specs, having them
ready to use during the tour. He would follow up by checking the
ships roster to see the names of those on board. His eyes would
open wide while he was silent for a second processing what he
just saw. Looking back at the couple in front of him he would
say 'Ummm, it seems there may be a glitch, on the roster my rank
is designated at Ensign while i was just a cadet on the
Endeavor.' Joking uneasily he would say 'Have i been promoted
with out being told?' Jakx would offer the Padd to Brooke so
that she could have a look.

Brooke accepted the PADD from Forrester and looked over it when
he mentioned the glitch and the sudden promotion, everything
seemed to be in order and she looked up and smiled at him. "
Everything is correct Mr Forrester, there has been no glitch,
Command have authorised a promotion to Ensign, Congratulations "
she replied.

Jakx face would show a sign of shock for a moment. A promotion
he thought. Then his mouth would form into a smile and then into
a grin, as he realised he skipped a couple of ranks in the
process. But realising he was still sitting in front of two
senior officers he got a grip on himself and put on a neutral
face. 'W-well, thank you m'am. Just surprised. I was not aware
of any promotion. But i am ready to do my duty.' He would
announce.
