Character Bio: Sakura Hayashi was born and grew up in Tokyo with
her parents and older twin brothers. Her father still runs a
museum there (which her mother curates) focusing on Japan's
early 21st century popular culture, which naturally influenced
her tastes in entertainment to this day. She usually uses her
holo-time to recreate the various fictional works of the era, or
perhaps roleplay in her idol persona, Hime-Hime. But that's
strictly recreation time stuff. When it's time to be serious and
work, she is focused on the task at hand.
Sakura is the first in her family to join the Federation
Starfleet. It first entered her mind when they visited San
Francisco on vacation when she was ten years old. While her
brothers and parents were busy sightseeing, Sakura would ask
questions of the numerous cadets and officers around them about
what Starfleet was like, how to get in, and what sort of career
options were available. She continued to gather information on
the subject throughout her teens, when she finally decided on
becoming a counselor in Starfleet (she had always been the kind
to listen to her friends problems and give advice). Even when
the Dominion became a problem around the time she was accepted
to the Academy and her family started to worry for her future
safety, she was undeterred, though not without some legitimate
fears of her own. Still, they were overcome as surely as the
Dominion was.
Your Details
Previous Role-Playing Experience: At least half a dozen sites
over the years, both Trek and otherwise. Never stayed with it
long enough to get in any positions of authority.
Department Preference: Medical - Counseling
Secondary Department Preference: Science
Sample Post: This was it, Sakura Hayashi thought to herself as
she waited to see where her first assignment would be after
graduation. The usually upbeat and cheery young woman was
unusually subdued as she contemplated where she might go, while
all around her her fellow graduates chattered about their dream
assignments.
"What about you, Sakura?" asked her now former Andorian
roommate. "Got any dream assignments in mind?"
Sakura smiled politely and answered "Nothing in particular,
really." This was only partially true. While she obviously would
not turn down any assignment, she was really hoping for
something fairly subdued like a starbase, as unlikely as a
subdued assignment seemed these days.
One of her Betazoid classmates looked at her and shrugged. "If
you say so" he said aloud as he turned to the front.
Sakura breathed a sigh of relief as she sent him a mental thank
you for not letting her friends know just how nervous she was.
She knew she wanted this way of life. She knew her expertise
would be needed in Starfleet. This had been her dream since she
was ten years old. Why was she so nervous right now?
As it turned out, it was just the waiting that was making her
nervous. The minute she received her assignment, all the anxiety
went away, replaced by excitement and a real, genuine smile.

Hey Sakura Hayashi,
After reading your application, we would love to accept you into
the fleet as a cadet first class on the USS Endeavor!
As seen in our help files, you can see that all of our new
members start at either rank Cadet I or Crewman depending on
whether you picked the enlisted route or not. Both courses are
as rewarding as each other but also challenging at the same
time. This will allow us to test your knowledge through them but
also your writing skills too, both of which are important to
have.
