Dark Reflections

On the bridge of the USS Atlantis Captain Shepard sat in the
captains chair. The ship was engaged at warp 6 enroute to the
neutral zone.
"Captains log 52324.53, the Atlantis is enroute to the neutral
zone to investigate the disappearance of a Federation science
vessel. So far at this time long range scans has not picked up
any debris or other ships in the area. On a separate issue
Commander Wyman is on starbase 473 to undergo yearly training
that keeps first officers up to date on new procedures. LT.
Commander Brooke Edwards has been temporary assigned as my first
officer until Commander Wyman's return."
Josh looked over at Commander Edwards who was sitting in the
first officers chair. "Do we have any additional information on
the science vessel?"

Brooke turned her head to look at the Captain when he asked her
about the missing Science Vessel, since they had been assigned
to investigate the disappearance Brooke had instructed her team
to get as much information as they could about it. " We do
Captain, the USS Windsor is a standard science vessel, crew
compliment of 150 and they had been assigned to map and gather
data on a cluster of nebulas near the neutral zone" she replied.
It still felt strange being in the first officers chair but she
was getting used to her new role and still kept a protective
watch over her department.

I served with him on the Valor for a brief time on a training
mission." Josh said tapping his finger on his chair. "It looks
like we have about five hours before we reach the last known
location of the Windsor, I'm going to find out why they sent
this vessel that close to the boarder with no escort. You have
the bridge commander. " Josh stood up and walked towards his
ready room.
Captain'sReady Room
Josh walked in his ready room and sat behind his desk. He
tapped his computer monitor. "Computer connect me to Starfleet
Command Admiral Pepper code 47 authorization Alpha 4 beta delta
delta, enable." The computer chimes in acknowledgment. Seconds
later the image of Admiral Pepper appears.

Admiral Parsons was sitting at his desk when the call cane
through for Admiral Pepper. He acknowledged the communication.
"Captain Shepard, Admiral Pepper is on an assignment, is there
anything i can do for you? "

Josh was slightly shocked to see Admiral Parsons. "Sir I'm
calling because we've been assigned to locate the Windsor, but
I'm concerned as to why a Federation science vessel has been
assigned that close to the neutral zone without an escort."

Bridge
"Aye Captain" Brooke replied before the Captain left for his
ready room, turning to Ensign Lewis at Science, "Ensign I know
we are five hours away but I want you to continue running long
range sensors and notify me straightaway if anything comes up"
she ordered. "Yes Commander" came the reply. Turning back to
face the viewscreen allowed Brooke to think about what Starfleet
would say about the Windsor and understood the Captains reaction
to the missing ship and Captain Ivey, she also thought about
what they were going to find once the Atlantis reached the
Neutral Zone and a small sense of dread came over her but soon
shook it off as she focused on the Bridge and the stars
streaking by.

Starfleet Command
Admiral Parsons let a look of worry come across his face. "I
had no knowledge of the Windsor being reported as missing."
Admiral Parsons took a deep breath. "Captain the Windsor isn't
just a science vessel, it's a test vehicle with a prototype warp
engine. It has the ability to sustain warp 9.9 for 72 hours
before needing to slow down, she also has advanced weapons.
Admiral Pepper was assigned to oversee the experiment."

give them a good tactical advantage on the Federation, we
wouldn't be able to catch them, and if the weapons are as
advanced as you're claiming we wouldn't stand a chance."

"That's correct captain, that's why we need you to investigate,
you're the closest starship available. Captain I'm not going to
insult your intelligence, you need to find that ship, retrieve
it if possible and if not then destroy it. It can not fall into
enemy hands. Good luck captain i know you'll succeed in your
mission. Parsons out. " Then Admiral Parsons closed the channel.

Josh tapped his computer monitor and the screen went black.
Josh leaned back all the way in his chair and let out a deep
breath. He tapped his comm badge. =^=Commander Edwards please
join me in my ready room. =^=
