Josh listened to his first officer speak about Elihu promotion
and his brother's promotion to head of security. "KnodwI is
getting things in order for our mission and will join us
shortly, and yes we can announce Elihu's promotion before the
briefing." Josh walked past his center chair and headed for the
observation lounge.
Observation Lounge
Josh walked in and took his seat at the head of the table. He
waited for his senior officers to arrive with the exception of
KnodwI, he will join them as soon as his task is complete.

Briefing Room
Kira followed Josh into the briefing room and opted to take a
leant position on the wall instead from her seat beside the
captain. She always had preferred to stand up and knew that Josh
wouldn't mind if she stayed up. She looked at Josh and nodded in
acknowledgment. "Everyone should be on the way and we'll be able
to get into motion in no time." She finished, smiling at him and
then looking out into space. She was still amazed by it and
thanked everyone for the chances she'd been given. "Hey, has
there ever been a 23 year old XO? I think I may have broke the
record for youngest command officer." She finished jokingly with
a smirk.

Josh laughed. "No i don't think so, and that was another
special favor i called in. One of the benefits of being captain
is getting to choose your first officer. On another note i
don't think that there's been a thirty six year old captain
either. So it looks like this ship is destined to break all
records. "

Elihu M'Konel had learned not to question things. In fact, his
empathic senses had been going off like mad ever since the first
change in command. He had a headache almost everyday now.
Feeling the stresses of the crew, along with his own confusion,
was becoming a bit much, even for him, someone trained in Vulcan
meditation and logic.
"Wyman to all senior department leaders. Please make your way to
the briefing room."
He figured he'd make it work somehow. Perhaps once things
settled down, he could get some rest - both physically and
emotionally. Elihu had taken a short Krag Maga course during
their stay at the starbase, adding to his continuously growing
self-defense training. To be honest, the course had helped a
lot, not to mention the Hebrew Sabbath he took the next day. It
was a much-needed rest.
As he approached the lounge, the man inhaled deeply and
straightened his uniform. "Here we go..."
Then he entered.

coming into this briefing without the proper uniform? " Josh
said holding back a grin.

Briefing Room
Kira grinned. "As long as we don't blow up, we'll be fine." For
a moment she thought back to the day that mistakes were made.
The falling of the triumph and who was the tactical officer IC?
Her, and she managed to not only fail to protect the ship but
she also failed to protect some of the crew which were still
aboard; something she'll never forgive herself of. She spent
years on that ship and to see it all fall down around her, broke
her. To see a ship she'd been serving on for years fall down
like that hurt her and despite admiralty refusing to accept the
fact that it was her fault, she still believed it to the day.
Trying to dismiss the thought she looked at Josh and smiled.
"People should be turning up any time now." She finished, going
back to her thoughts about the Triumph as Eli walked in.

Looking at Joshua, Kira smiled at Josh and Eli as he entered.
She left Josh to his games while she dwelled on the Triumph.

Eli inwardly sighed. He knew he'd have to pretend to be
surprised at the promotion. The problem with being empathic was
that nobody could fool him. Well, except for the Breen. But as
he was about to pretend to be confused at Shepard's statement,
he felt Wyman's guilt. Now came another problem: does he blow
off his commanding officer to help quell the regret in his first
officer, or does he ignore her for the moment, act like he
doesn't notice, and play along with the new young captain?
He figured he'd attempt to do both: Eli kept his empathic senses
on Wyman alone, emotionally ignoring everyone else; but he
walked over to Captain Shepard with a cynical smirk.
"Captain, I already know what you're going to say, so let us
dispense with this game and just get on with it." Eli chuckled
lightly, but the laugh was like a knife in him as he continued
to feel Wyman's angst.

Josh was shocked by how Elihu spoke to him. "You know there's
times i wish you wasn't empathic." Josh stood up from his chair,
he already had a pip in his hand. "Congratulations Lieutenant
Elihu M'Konel." Josh then looked over at Kira, she looked deep
in thought and her eyes looks like she's fighting back the
tears." Josh stepped in closer to Elihu. "Once the briefing is
over could you please make time to talk to Commander Wyman."
Josh then walked back to his chair and sat down. "Please have a
seat Lieutenant. Commander you're welcome to stand if you wish
that is up to you."

Eli replied to Joshua with a light grin, "You already knew I was
going to speak with her..." He then frowned and sighed.
"Honestly, it's been a long time coming...but I'm going to speak
with all of the command staff today. Privately. So be prepared."
He patted the captain's shoulder and sat down in the chair that
was besides the seat that Wyman would be taking. Normally, that
seat would be for the second officer, but he had a plan and knew
that Lieutenant Commander Edwards would understand; he'd
counseled Elizabeth several times about her upcoming motherhood,
and she knew that sometimes he would take small liberties with
the chain-of-command in order to possibly make a more
substantial positive impact.

The Chief of Security entered the conference room.
Sorry for my tardiness, had an issue in the Brig that needed to
be handled. A report will be in your ready room after our
meeting., he said to the Captain.
He took his seat so he could watch the room and exits.
