Potential Squad Leaders read this!!!

Of course 8LU3 would like to encourage individual styles of
squad lead as this gives a more interesting play experience from
day to day. However there are some things I would like
standardized, so all you would be squad leads listen up!
Squad Leading
use your personal squad way-point to give micro objectives to
the squad
Keep your squad near you or tell them where to split and go
(example: Alpha 10(infiltrator) take position on the ridge to
the North, provide overwatch)
Make sure you have the squad composition needed to accomplish
the task you have been set
(nearly always need a medic and an engi, if you are going anti
Armour request the correct load-outs and penalize people if they
come as something unnecessary)
You are responsible for the logistics of your squad!
(this does not mean you have to pull a galaxy every-time but you
do need to request the correct vehicle from your squad)
Think outside the box for ways to overcome your objective!
(this can be many things, from an unexplored flank, to max
crashes. 8LU3 soldiers are trained to be responsive so you are
able to get creative with tactics)
Ensure you are working towards the task set by the Platoon
Leader
(to lower the stress on the platoon lead, PL will simply place a
marker and give a vague objective to each squad. It is then up
to each SL to decide how they will accomplish this, and report
to PL if objective is complete or unobtainable)
Platoon Leading
No one else is platoon leading so you have taken the torch!
Congratz!
Platoon leading is one of the hardest jobs of Planetside,
however with good squad leads you won't have to be consistently
looking at the map screen.
Give clear Orders
(this one is pretty obvious, don't just say lets go over there
guys. You need to tell your SL's what you need each squad to do
to accomplish your goals)
Don't switch orders to much!
(once you've given an order try and stick with it, as constantly
changing orders will cause a lack of faith in yourself.
Sometimes this is unavoidable but try and make sure there is a
reason eg: we just got pop bombed, or the rest of the NC has
pulled out etc...)
Keep comm discipline!
(it is your job to say when the platoon can relax and when it
has to be more disciplined, if some sprog is talking over you
all the time, then tell them!)
Be prepared to also think out of the box
(some tactics require huge numbers to perform, and sometimes you
need to think of your platoon as a massive squad. eg: lots of
armour behind a shield and you need the whole platoon to drop
and blow the Armour!)
Use all of the way-points, smoke and command tools at your
disposal!
(you have five brightly coloured way-points and four colours of
smoke to play with. With this you can mark front lines, flight
paths, rally points, targets etc.. just be clear in what you are
using them for. It doesn't always have to be a squad travel
way-point!)
I hope this guide helps, we will be doing some formal training
as well as just letting people lead. If we believe you are worth
the rank without training we will promote you, however we will
always be there with advice! if you want the formal training or
just to have us whisper in your ear for a while when you lead
just let us know!

Hello there.
Thanks for posting this! I really appreciate it and I think a
lot of guys that want to be pl or so will aswell.
I'm going to try to apply this out of the box thinking next time
I'll lead platoon.
I really am looking forward to the advanced training sessions.
:P
