Replacing Throttle Body with new version
By: GrantWheeler Date: July 27, 2016, 11:03 pm

Hi,
I have a 2008 KTM 690 Enduro, I've had stalling problems with
her since we met.
After checking everything on the bike, my dealer recommends
replacing my throttle body.
So I bought a 2015 KTM 690 Enduro R Throttle Body on Ebay, but I
cannot find the other parts I need to upgrade my 2008 semi-fly
by wire system to the new electronic system.
Do I need to make any special connection on my wiring harness or
upgrade my ECU too?
Thank you!
Grant

I think there is much more to it then how the throttle connects
to the system. I believe it is an entirely different FI system.
Hard to believe a new throttle body was required, sounds like
the dealer doesn't know what the problem is and is ready to
throw parts at it.

Hi,
Thank you for the reply Bruce,
I find it hard to believe that there is no one who has tried
this swap before, can it be done?
I think I'm going to return the 2015 TB, and try and find a 2013
or earlier TB to solve this problem.
Regards
Grant

Grant, you may look into the Tune ECU or Power Commander to
"remap" your fuel injection/ignition. From what I have read,
this is what everyone else with pre-'14 bikes have done. You
will change way too much to upgrade to a '14-'16 system. Also,
the '14-'16 bikes have dual spark plugs and no SAS. Even if you
get all the parts, you'll still have to tweak the ignition and
fuel map for your single spark plug.
