New 690 owner looking for pannier system

Hello. I am the new owner of a 2016. I have been in the process
of getting it set up for my liking. One addition I would like to
make is some somewhat minimal panniers. I have been looking at
the Happy-Trails Imnaha and Owyhee. Has anyone tried these? What
are other options you have found worth me looking at?

Well, I can't answer your question about the pannier systems you
mentioned but I've seen them on other bikes and they are good
quality products.
I ride a 2015 690 Enduro R and didn't want to add too much
unnecessary weight. So, I bought a set of the Tour Tech Pannier
racks BUT I use them to support soft saddle bags. I also have a
Tool Tube mounted on the back side of the rack opposite the
muffler. So, if I'm not carrying much in the saddle bags I don't
have the weight of the pannier boxes just hanging there.
Might be something to think about.

I just picked up a 2010 and decided on Giant Loop luggage.
Less expensive. Easy on. Easy off. Holds it all. Much lighter.
Something to consider.

I've come to believe, based on experience, I will fall from
time to time in mud, water crossings, slow, tight rocky
conditions or hit the rear bags on rocks in tight areas.
I use the Giant Loop Coyote, tank bag and two smaller tank bags
that strap to the front of my Safari tank and then back over the
top of the Safari. The soft Giant Loop bags have come through
slow crashes well and protected the bike from damage. I pack
the crush prone items towards the upper-interior of the bag and
have soft items on the sides to absorb shock.
I'm pretty sure I would have ripped off and then beat up hard
sided luggage pretty bad by now. I guess it depends on where
you are riding, how salty you are at the controls and do you
feel lucky?
I'm really afraid of getting my ankle beat up by catching on a
hard corner of hard luggage in a fall. This seems to be a
frequent problem with guys going down with hard sided luggage.

Hi folks, I'm a new 2016 Endure R owner, having traded 'down'
from my overweight, big boned long time companion, German Frau
(2010 BMW f800gs), to my new younger, slimmer Austrian mistress.
The old panzer and I did multiple BDR's, fully dressed in
Touratech Zega aluminum panniers. Now I need to decide on the
direction to decorate the new hottie.
I'm thinking Mosko Reckless 80L, and figure I need a
frame-mounted rack to support the luggage - given the lack of
subframe on the Austrian supermodel.
Does anyone have experience with the Rally Raid RRP-123 soft
luggage rack?

Given the lingerie sized fuel tank on the KTM, and the expense
of adding RR aux tanks, I'm thinking of hauling liter bottles of
fuel in the luggage as needed. The Reckless seems perfect for
that, with the pouches that seem specifically designed for that
purpose.
Prior to pulling the trigger on a big purchase, I thought I'd
see what you all had to say about it.
thanks in advance for the replies,
roespan
