Hi all, just wondering what sort of life expectancy the 690
engine is capable of.

If you like reading ride reports check out rtw with Noah on
advrider. He rode around for 2 or 3 years and posted about
everything including breakdowns. If I remember correctly his
first post may be a synopsis of his adventure including the
information you are looking for.
It's worth a read either way.

That's quite a bit more than I was expecting! I don't think most
690's cover many miles. Haven't seen many over 20k, and most are
below 10k. I thought there might be a couple of members on here
who had done more...

You should expect long mileage. I had an '04 625 SXC with the
carburetored predecessor LC4 engine. It had 6,900 miles when I
got it 3/2006 & 22,832 when I sold it, after the 690 saw me, in
10/2010. She was still running strong.
