Does anyone have any insider info?

I started seeing them come out in December when I was looking
last year. They started on the west coast, California area, and
headed east. They made it to Florida at the beginning of
January.

I'll throw my 2 cents in. I started pestering the dealer about
mid-year in 2014. He told me it would be somewhere around
January or February of 2015 when they arrived.
I walked into the dealership on December 27th and as luck would
have it, they had one just off the truck, still in the crate.
They were not expecting it at all!
I told them to assemble it and I'd be back the next weekend with
my checkbook.
This all happened in the Kansas City area.
The lesson is - stay on top of it so you get one as soon as they
arrive. They will not sit on the showroom floor. My dealer was
expecting about 4 of the 2015 models and they were all sold
before the crate was unpacked.

I believe there might still be a few new 2015's in some of the
remote dealerships. I just had one shipped from Georgia to
California, and I believe the shpg cost ran around $600.
Actually mine was a used 2015 with 43 miles on it.
Just pointing this out as a possible option that one might
consider, rather than waiting another 4 months or so for the
'16's to arrive.

I knew the owner at the dealership.... says he puts in orders
for say 6 bikes (talking just 690's for this example).....
might get 1 in January, another 1 month later, 2 in March, then
no more. Or might get 2 in January, 1 in Feb, non in March
then 3 in April and another in May. He doesn't know what or
when he is actually getting them until the truck shows up.
The dirt bikes are a different story though!

We bought two 2015's. I put a cash deposit up in December 14 on
each one. Dealer knew his delivery timetable: one in January,
one in February and more later in the year. Dealer received a
shipping confirmation about a week before they came in - he
emailed us copies.
I think the secret is to find a dealer you want to deal with,
put up a cash deposit-basically cut the deal, based on an
understanding that it is for the first or second or whatever 690
the dealer receives. We had a great relationship with the
dealer until they refused to remap the ECU's - then we found an
alternative - unfortunate. There was over a $1,000 difference
in pricing quoted by the 3 dealers I approached, so do your
homework.
