Best License Plate Mod

hey Guys,
So instead of riding this thing around all year illegally I went
a got insurance and registration the other day. Trouble is the
license plate holes are completely wrong. Is there a better way
than punching new holes in the plate? Thanks.

I bolted the plate to the plate holder and the holder to the
euro tail. Took some finagling but I'm pleased with the finished
product. If you mount the plate horizontally, it's easy.
Ended up with this:

That looks like the stock tail light unit, not the euro one from
e-bay.

I drilled 2 holes in the top and screwed it to the stock mount.
It made it a few weeks. Then the plate decided it had enough
and tore away. So I drilled another hole in the bottom and zip
tied it in place. Haven't had a problem since.

I doubled my new plate with an old plate then run a couple 1/4"
flat head carriage bolts thru just the old plate & sandwiched
the bolts between the 2 plates. I then shortened the stock plate
mount by about 2" & used the remaining 2 holes to mount the
plate right up under the tail light. I used wing nuts over
rubber grommets to secure the carriage bolts. This setup is
durable (13,305 miles on mine) & can be removed quickly.
Wisconsin has some weird laws about licensed bikes on the trails
so I have to take the plates off any time I ride the trails
there.

I have a piece of alumium drilled for a plate. I have been
looking at the helmet locks that mount to the plate holder. they
look nice, saw them on e-bay.

I just installed the Enduro Engineering KTM universal plate
mounting kit. It's the same one River Runner posted from
sicassracing. I had to elongate the two lower holes which mount
to the fender because the stock holes are spaced closer
together. Very solid mounting.
