New 690 in AR

Hi everyone.
Picked up a 2015 690 last weekend. Looking forward to getting
into the ADV riding. Been riding a little over 45 years. Spent
the last 10 on my Concours on the street and my uncorked WR for
offroad. I spent the last year researching what ADV bike to
start with. So far very happy with the 690, but haven't made it
to any trails yet. Have two rides planned this year. Part (3
days worth) of the AZBDR in May. July my brother and I are
doing a 2 week loop of the COBDR south, then UTBDR north. Will
be installing the Happy Trails SU rack this week to support my
gear on the BDRs. Planning on around 32 lbs, basically my
backpacking stuff in the bags instead of a backpack. Will take
pics of the install and post.
Great to find this bike specific forum!
Cheers!
Bill

Welcome to the forum!
I used to ride a WRR as well. Did you used to be a member of
the WR250 forum? When I switched to the 690, I was frustrated at
the lack of a dedicated forum--so I made this one. It's growing
more and more useful as new members like you chime in...so don't
be a stranger.

Thanks for getting this together! My WR is a 450. Pretty beasty
for any long rides. I still have it and plan to keep it as my
local black diamond trail bike. Lovin the 690 so far! Took my
Concours out the other day, it felt so heavy!
