That's interesting...I wonder if they made the seat pan more
flexible to aid comfort, but instead the pans are cracking. I
had a good look at mine after reading the op...I was wondering
if it had cracks. 90% of my riding is Baja type terrain, and I
ride it like I stole it...no cracks tho.

If you are out of warranty and have a cracked seat pan getting
the Seat Concepts complete seat is a no brainer. Better seat and
2 height options.
SC won't recover the stock pan do to type of material (brittle,
often cracks when restapled).

Yeah, except Seat Concepts wants Three Hundred Bucks for a new
seat and won't just sell the pan by itself.

The OEM seat is a piece of junk. On mine the holes for the pads
were broken. OEM pan is made out of a brittle material it's not
even suitable for stapling on a new cover/pad. The Seat
Concepts pan is far better and the seat comfort is better too.

I came across 3 extra seat bumpers on the 690 that are used
between the stock skid plate and engine.
When you go to change your skid plate... Boom!, 3 extra seat
bumpers!
