       OEM seat cracked !!
       By: truck11 Date: January 19, 2015, 10:24 am

Took my seat off this morning to remove the battery (to charge
it)..... my OEM seat is cracked (badly) and also missing one
       of the rubber stoppers!
Anyone have a seat they want to sell me? I doubt this is
       covered under warranty!

I think I replied to your post on Facebook also. KTM will
warranty that. Send your dealer the pics. I did & had a new seat
shipped to me about a week later. Good luck bud!

Just found a crack in mine too. I only have 1044 miles on the
bike. I called the dealer yesterday and they are ordering me a
new seat. Should have it buy the middle of the week they said. I
       would definitely check with them.

New seat replaced under warranty on Saturday. They also
installed the longer gas cap vent hose and wrapped red heat
shrink tubing on the 2 wires going to the positive battery
terminal. Apparently it was needed!!!! ::)

You let the dealer work on your bike? Brave man!

Welllllll...... I actually wanted to watch him... so I could see
what he was doing - mainly the vent hose. But I also managed
to get them to check the coolant overflow issue (and coolant was
low so he filled it), oil level, and counter sprocket seal. My
buddy lost his seal within a month of riding!
And, all the guys in the shop were admiring the farkles,
       especially the reusable wheel weights!
But.... it was a waste of time really.

My seat has a bumper missing, wonder if that could lead to an
       eventual crack.

Sparky - where are you located? I might have an extra rubber
bumper I can pop in the mail to you.

What year are the bikes that this is occurring on? I have worn
out my first seat cover and bought a replacement from an inmate
here. Seat pan looks fine so far. Noticed I'd lost a rubber
       bumper last week.
I had 2 pans crack badly on my crf' 450x bikes (they all used to
do that) and also managed to rip open a pan around the mounting
screw (on an KTm exc) when my boot got caught during a pretty
wild enduro. In that instance I later fixed the pan by getting
some plastic glue from a hardware shop, using the entire tube to
impregnate a few layers of loose weave fleece material. Reason I
went with that as are re enforcement is that it's made from
polypropylene. Plus I didn't have anything else handy...but it
seemed to work great and held up for a few years until I on sold
the bike. Might be worth a try if the dealer pleads innocence.

Mine is a 2014 with 1500 miles. These seats are very thin,
which might make it hard to attempt to repair. I talked to the
guys at Seat Concepts and the 690 seat is one of the seats they
will not recover and you have to get a whole new pan (if you
       want one of their seats).
Mine was replaced under warranty, which is now expired -
hopefully the new seat will last a little longer than the first
       one!
