Can you run 2-liters of oil? Or more?

Has anyone tried running two liters of oil in a 690 - or maybe a
       little more?
More oil is always better than less oil - lubrication and
       cooling.
Just wondering because some engines will allow a nice increase
from what the manual recommends without issues.

I hope you mean 2 quarts?
I have stuck pretty close to the recommended amount. I go over a
bit, but nowhere near 2 quarts.
We'll see what everyone else has to say.

The 690 manual says 1.7 liters or 1.8 quarts, they are pretty
close. 1 liter is just over a quart at 33.814 Oz.
I have a Husky 511 where the manual says 900 ml, but I usually
put in 1300 ml and all has been good to date.

Then I'd say you'll be fine.

I run oil just over the top of the site glass. Using the theory
that more oil runs cooler. If the engine does not like it, it
will spit it out. Same goes for the cooling system.

       mcrider-
Do you fill the 690 to the top of the sight glass when cool? If
so, do you get any oil blow-by into the air filter housing when
you do extended highway or high speed runs??

I've been running 2,000 CC's without issue. Nothing in the air
       filter from blow by.

eBay for a 4L jug. Good stuff 😎

The racing guys all recommend a lighter weight oil for KTM
motors - Zip Ty Racing recommends Mobile 1 0-40 oil. You can
get this stuff at Wally World for about $24 for 5 liters. I
just kind of get crazy when someone tells me I need to use $20+
a liter oil.....I also don't buy off on a 6,000 mile oil change
interval as well....Buy good oil, use a stainless steel mesh oil
filter(s) and change the oil often.
