2014 690 bogging

I've got about 200 miles on my 2014. While playing around
yesterday, the bike bogged when whacking the throttle open.
Happened 3 or 4 times in a 10 minute period. It was always
second gear, about 4000rpm, opening the throttle quickly. Felt
like the injector shut off. Anyone else experience this
behavior?

I haven't heard of this before.. Seams like the "bugs" are
worked out of the 14's & they are pretty trouble free. Is it
possible you have some bad gas? Did it come from a pump or a gas
can? (maybe water in the gas?) Almost 12k miles on my 14' & it's
never "bogged". Good luck, let us know what you find.

Was the engine cold? if so, that was the problem.

I did put some gas in out of a can. It wasn't old and not likely
to have water in it, but anything is possible. The engine temp
crossed my mind. I had ridden about 30 miles and stopped for
about 15 mins before this happened. It was 45F out. I didn't
think it would cool down that quickly. I didn't note how many
engine coolant bars were displayed, but maybe that was it. The
bike didn't bog the rest of the ride.

Mine's bogged, but never at 4k rpm. Usually it's because I'm
wrestling with that darn tall "low" gear.

It wasn't like it bogged and recovered. There was no power until
I closed the throttle. It was like the injector was turned off.
Must have been something ecu related.

I really think it was a bit of water you picked up. Some amount
of water is in nearly every fuel tank & is vaporized during
combustion with no problem. Single cylinder engines are a bit
more prone to run poorly when water is present as they don't
have multiple cylinders to share the load. Gas cans are prone to
water collecting because most are vented. (air is full of water)
If you have gas in a can for more then a month or so & its not
sealed well its likely it has some water in it. Now to really
stir the crap... Run ethanol! I've run it in everything I own &
have never had a water problem (alcohol absorbs water). E30 is
also about 97 octane, way cheaper then premium & runs great in
my 690. Either that or could it have been overheated? The 690
has a overheat mode that limits power to about 30%...
