Dunlop 908

I swapped out my MT21 rear for a Dunlop 908. The MT21 only
lasted 3400 miles :-\. The MT is a good tire, but not
long-wearing enough for my needs (I commute 60 miles a day).
The front MT is still serviceable, but is getting scalloped.

Incidentally, a two gallon Rotopax is an ideal spare tire
carrier. I only took it down to the shop, but if I were
planning an extreme journey this might come in handy.

Wait.... you had the shop replace your tire?
Please turn in your bike and hand over your motorcycle license
.........
Plus, that MT21 in the picture still has a lot of street miles
left on it!!!
;D

How the heck did you get 3400 out of the stocker? I was at 1200
and mine was pretty much done.

I'm up in Maine for the summer on a work assignment, so all I
have is my aluminum emergency spoons. I'd be confident swapping
out the front, but the rear is too stiff for short irons.

no offense, but if you'r paying $200 for a tire (the D908) and
running it on pavement for 60 miles every day, you'r flat out
throwing your money away.. nothing will wear a knobby (or
semi-knobby) tire more then a lot of pavement. Why not get a
pair of Shinko 244's at one quarter the cost? they last pretty
well, are nice and soft, decent offroad, fairly quiet and way
smoother then the 908 on pavement.. The 244's are bias ply,
(one reason they are so cheap) but as long as you don't intend
to ride over 100mph for long stretches, it's a great little
tire. If I was commuting every day, I'd actually consider
something like the Pirelli MT90AT Scorpions. About 30% cheaper
then the 908, great pavement (dry or wet) handling, and not bad
offroad.. just let out a few pounds of air.
