Airing out the 690

Here's my latest video, dedicated to offroad riding with my
family and friends. Got some great footage of me flogging the
690 offroad pretty hard. Enjoy! Make sure to watch in HD!

Thanks Dane! I'm still impressed with how versatile our 690's
are. Haven't found anything it can't do yet.

Man! You're flicking that 690 around like a 450! Well done.

Haha thanks Rusty. I'll have to load more video of the single
track up. I was trying to keep up with a local pro, and me being
out of shape held me up a lot more than the 690 did. It was a
beast trying to wrangle around as dry as it is here though, the
Sandy parts were like talcum powder. I need to lose some lbs and
quit smoking. Haha.

Hey bigbikejohn that track is cool as heii!! I love that jump
where you kick it sideways a bit. The 690 is a big girl to push
around huh?! You ride great dude. Where is that track?

Hey thanks guys,
The 690 wasn't too bad to ride offroad at all. A little heavy at
times, but certainly manageable. I really felt the only thing
I'd change for riding it like a dirt bike was the exhaust and
the suspension, as it was much too soft to keep up with the rest
of the bike.
Unfortunately I didn't end up riding her the way I had planned,
and ended up doing a lot more commuting and street rides, some 2
up, than I anticipated when I purchased her. I ended up keeping
my kx500 and trading the 690 on a leftover new 13 MG Stelvio. I
do plan to keep up with you guys, though. May eventually get a
690 again in the future, as I did love it for what it was good
at. Just not room enough in the budget for now. I do, however,
have plans to get video of the stelvio offroad as well. :o

Don't imaging that you're not still "one of us." We've got
members who ride other makes and models here. Everyone is
welcome.

They're a a pretty decent bike for the dirt all around. Easy to
drop the weight and the suspension can be worked (or just
replace it like I did). I liken it to a modern version of an
Xr650r in its role, except I think it's better on single track
than the big red beast.
