Fan Thermoswitch install

Ok so first of all part numbers.

First thing you will need to do is remove your plastics on the
right side. I didn't have to do this because I have the Evo2
tank kit. I still haven't received my shrouds so it was very
easy for me.
Now lay the bike down on its side.

Even though the stock switch has cuts machined into it, it's not
a left handed thread. This is where you run into trouble. Even
with the bike on it's side it will still loose some coolant.
So here's the trick. Break the stock switch loose. With the
replacement in one hand, remove the stock switch with the other.
As soon as it is out start threading the other in. As long as
you're quick you will only loose a teaspoon or so of coolant.
Out with the old in with the new.

As you can see it was easy for me to swap this out without the
shrouds in the way. Total time spent, less than 5 minutes. I
should have done this a long time ago.
I'll let you know how it works for me.
PS- sorry about the orientation of the pictures. I tried
rotating them but it would always default back to the original
when I linked it here.
PPS- Nevermind about the PS. It appears to have fixed itself.

Alright!
I took the bike for a spin today to warm it up for an oil
change.
Because my bike is missing the needed shrouds for the Evo2 kit
(I just got an email they're on the way!!!) it has been running
hot. Even on cool mornings it would run at 10 bars. When I
took my trip to The Hills

was 90+ most of the time and the bike never went above 10 bars.
The fan was running every time I came to a stop and I'm guessing
that it was on and off at speed.
Today the temp was only around 85. I took the bike about 4
miles and it made it to the 9th bar. I grabbed the mail on the
way back and let the bike run while I walked it into the house.
When I came out the fan was still running and it was still on
the 9th bar. I killed the bike with the switch (not the key)
and let it sit until the fan shut down. At this point it was on
the 7th bar.
I have no doubt this mod will make a good bit of difference for
hot weather riding. I'll have to update this thread again when
I get my shrouds mounted.
