       2014 690.couple of questions.

I just got it home today !
I found how to turn off the rear ABS from the instrument
panel, but it seems to come back on when your cycle the key ?
The clock is on 24 hour time. Can it be changed to 12 hour ?
Any good replacement for those funny looking mirrors ?
       Thanks

       Hello again Rokitt,
I believe that using the ABS shutoff button disables both front
and rear ABS. I think this is desirable, since you will want to
lock your front tire up if you fail to reach the top of a steep
       hill climb.
Yes, it ABS does come back on EACH time you cycle the key. But
it stays off so long as you just kill the engine. While riding
in Big Bend last weekend I had to retrain myself to kill the
engine only and leave the key on. This wasn't always possible,
and a couple times I forgot that to disengage the ABS. One time
I nearly went off the track because I couldn't stop on a gravely
       downhill.
BUT, you can disable the ABS entirely by removing three fuses.
       I'm not suggesting you do that--but I'm gonna ;).
I'm not sure about the clock. I didn't see any option to change
between the two in the manual. Europe is weird. It's a
motorcycle, not a submarine! We can see if the sun's out. (or
maybe they were thinking of Finland and Alaska in the summer).
As for mirrors, yes, the stockers are lame. Try these:
  HTML http://www.doubletakemirror.com/images/home-mirror.png
       They are from Doubletake (
  HTML http://www.doubletakemirror.com
       ).
They don't vibrate so much, are easy to adjust, and are just
about invincible. Also, you can opt to tilt them out of the way
when offroading (or don't bother, since they seem to move out of
the way on their own if you crash). I got a pair on my last
bike after I crashed and the mirror stalk hit the ground and
       cracked my clutch perch.
I just picked up a pair but have yet to place on my 690 because
it's in the shop. I cracked my clutch case when I spilled over
in the desert. Those magnesium cases are brittle--get some case
covers! I just bought a pair from adventure-spec
       (
  HTML http://www.adventure-spec.com/noneu/).
       Here they are:

I'll do a review once they arrive.
Good luck and congrats again on the new bike.

Themz is awful purdy mirrors. I look forward to reading yer
ree-port if they ever show up. It takes time to get the good
sh-tuff. I know this all too well. Now down to business. I
got an extre touring windscreen and a Seat Concepts full height
saddle if'n your interested. Being we is local buds (scooter
trash), I thought I'd tell you 'bout it before I dump the
sh-tuff on ebay. Later bood-e-roooow. Bartlioni. You know
       where I'm at.
