       Anger Issues
By: seabeegt Date: March 10, 2014, 11:45 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
So, I'm in the military and I commute to work on my 690
predominantly thrughout the week. This morning I'm @ an
intersection waiting for my turn at the light. I'm in the far
right lane which will quickly end after crossing through the
intersection. In this lane, where I'm waiting for the green, I'm
all the way over to the right. That gives me about a whole
lane's worth of space from the car next to me and no one on the
right. Lights about to turn grenn, bike is in 2nd w/clutch still
in. I start throttling up in anticipation of gunning it across
the intersection to get in front of traffic..... ZOOOOOM!!!! A
fuckin' truck comes flying through the gap between me and the
car to the left of me. This dude was going 50+mph. So fast, it
almost knocked me over cuz I hadn't moved yet. Instantaneous
adrenaline from fear and shock flooded my system, immediately
followed by a surge of anger and absolute fury. This SOB had
purposely timed the light to what he had done. It took me less
than a second to immediately come to a decision to chase him
down. I revved the shit out of the engine and quickly ran
through the gears. It took me about a quarter mile to overtake
him. I flipped up my visor to get a good look at this scumbag
and flip him off. Total surprise, I thought I'd be looking at
some young dude with an attitude or a ditsy woman behind the
wheel. No, it was a middle-aged white guy in a farm truck style
F-150. At first he wouldn't look over at me.... He knew what was
up. Then he gave a quick glare over to see that I was flippin'
him off. I then jetted ahead and slowed way down in front of
him. I so wish I had either marbles, jacks or nails... somethin'
to make his day. Dude almost fuckin' killed me. WTF.
I quickly realized I was in uniform and I shouldn't take this
any further, so I flipped him the bird once more before I let
       him go.
I think I may just carry somethin' special in my pocket from now
on in case this happens again. Would you guys ever intentionally
go after someone like that? I haven't been that damn angry in
       forever. I hate assholes. >:(

Well that sucks! Glad you are ok though and didn't get run
       over.
A friend of mine used to carry a small pouch on his
handlebars.... of various sized ball bearings that he had
collected over time..... if someone was tailgating him or
otherwise harassing him, he would chuck a few up in the air.
Amazing how ball bearings fall out of the sky!

Watch out for psychos; it's not worth it and they have the 5,000
lb hammer - I'm glad your okay. I did 23 in the military
myself. Today I had a truck honk a the car in front of me and
then jump in the lane behind the car which was the lane I was
in! I didn't honk or do anything except split the lane and
drive around them - I really don't think that they even knew I
was there until they saw me come around them between the cars.
I have a F150, but I always look out for motorcycles!

Ya, I try not to dwell on shitty drivers, u just gotta stay
vigilant and be defensive while riding. In the end, you'll lose
ur life rolling around with road rage. :P

Ultimately, in any road rage situation, the bike will lose. If
you insist on engaging, make damn sure you can disengage.
Better yet, avoid conflict altogether--let it go.
That said, I don't always follow good advice. I followed guy to
his home recently. He'd failed to stop at a four-way, nearly
killing me. He was texting with one hand and drinking coffee
with the other (yup, no hands on the wheel). He looked afraid
when I approached him in his driveway. I wasn't trying to scare
       him; it's not my fault that I'm 6'3" and 230#. I calmly
explained how close he'd come to killing me with his distracted
driving. He apologized, and there was really nothing more to
say, so I left him to his latte.

Learning to have more patience. Almost got taken out on the
freeway yesterday. I did gas up right beside him. He waved
appalogetically and I gave him a thumbs up. Feels alright doing
the forgive and forget thing. 8)

Take it from this old man- anger will undo you. Nothing you can
do will train idiots to drive safely. I'm glad you are safe to
ride that wonderful 690 another day.

just gotta be a good person. I enjoy riding my bike every day
and im not gonna let those crappy drivers get the best of me.
