This afternoon I gathered my Library books and a couple of
John's too and went to the library. IT was all Closed
!!!!!!!!!!! Why did nobody tell me the Library IS closed for
..Matariki !
Matariki 2026 is observed as a public holiday on Friday 26 June
2026, creating a three-day long weekend. The date changes each
year based on the Maori lunar calendar.
From what I read the supermarkets etc were all opened ! SO I
have no books to read tonight except for a couple of old ones
that I never really read. Pass !

I just looked up what Matariki is and it's the Maori New Year
celebration. Shame about the library not being opened, does your
library open on a Saturday?

Yes thank goodness the library was open this morning but it only
opens for the morning on Saturday ! I went along at 10:30 ish
and managed to get 3 decent looking books and lay on my soft bed
this arvo after lunch and after Dan etc had left ......and the
first smallish book I picked up......... yes I have read it
before but it is an old one ..2021 so where did I read it before
??? SO I then snuggled down under the duvet and fell asleep for
over an hour !!!!!!!!!!!
The library lady did check the books and said I had not had them
before !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT Of course they have said that many
times before and I HAVE read them !!!!!!!!!!!
Going to bed shortly and will try one of the other books !!!!

You may have read it when living in Helensville and I know I am
repeating myself here, but I just don't understand how you know
you haven't read it before you borrowed it!!!!!!! I think the
books are all blending into one for you.

Well I think I have read sooooo many books over the years I
cannot remember then all !!!!!!!!!!!! I do often THINK ' ah I
may have read this book ' then I check it and think Hmmm maybe
not... so I get it from the library ...... ! The library here is
not very big and the selection is not fantastic....... but
...........I cannot keep buying books !
I have been reading a couple of books John got from the library
.........Murder, Mystery, War etc . and I don't like them BUT
sometimes I flip through them !

I too have read many books and while I can't remember all of
them I usually know what ones I have read and which ones I
haven't. If I am unsure about a book I used to just read the
first few pages and that usually lets me know. I would often go
to second hand book stores, not that there are many of them
anymore.

I do that too but once or twice I think I have not read it or
maybe I have flipped through it and will read it properly IF I
am stuck for some thing TO read !!!!!!!!!!
There are a few second hand Charity shops in Whanganui or Hawera
and they often have books and one or two of them have Lots of
good books and clean books :) I have a few from there and lately
I have been piling them up to take back to them so they can sell
them again !!!!!

You seem to do it all the time, going by your posts!!!! I hope
you do find something to read, even better yet a new author who
has lots of books you haven't read. I would go insane if I
didn't have my books to escape to.

Our tastes are too different these days, I am into fantasy and
dark romance books and I know you wouldn't like them. There are
the Outlander books, but again there is swearing in them, not
much though, but I believe you tried them and didn't enjoy them.
What about Nora Roberts? She has so many books not even I have
read them all.
