NZ WEATHER NEWS | 2025 Ends with Severe Conditions Across NZ
2025 is set to finish on a wild note as an active low-pressure
system sweeps across the country, upgrading multiple weather
alerts from watches to warnings — and disrupting summer and New
Year plans for many Kiwis.
Most of the North Island and the upper South Island are now
under orange heavy rain and strong wind warnings, with
forecasters warning of intense rainfall, damaging winds,
thunderstorms, and cooler temperatures over the final days of
the year.
Blowing a bloody gale all day and it is so cold I have had to
put on the heating !!!!! First time for weeks
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Over it !!!!

Went shopping this morning to Whanagnui and as I said in our FB
page .. it was belting down and cold here and so we were in full
winter gear !!! But so warm and sunny once we got to Whanganui
and NO rain .... not until I came out of the supermarket with a
trolley load of stuff and it had to go into the car boot ! And
John had the car parked at one end of the supermarket car park
.. it was busy !!!!! I got soaked ! Once we got back here it
was SUNNY in Waverley !!!!!
This evening DOWN came the rain again and the wind is now
blowing madly once again !

It seems you are having 4 seasons in one day, much like
Victoria!!!! Our weather has been quite cool here too, I have my
winter gown on in the mornings here, it does warm up, but it's
been nice and cool most days......long may it last.

Exactly 4 seasons in one day ! This morning it was wet and cold
so I was in my winter woolies again.. then out came the sun
before noon and it got HOT and humid so I had to strip off ...
well I took off my jumper and trackies and put on my shorts !!!
But after tea it got cold again so I am now in my woolie pj
pants and a jumper after a shower !
Ridiculous weather !

It's been most unseasonal here too, cool in the morning and
warms up a bit through the day with some showers thrown in. My
kind of weather really and I hope it stays this way without any
excessive heat.

Same again today except it started off with sunshine this
morning so I was in my shorts and tee shirt .... and it was
lovely so I was reading the paper outside on the deck .......
then down came the rain the wind around noon .... and so cloudy
and it got cold so I had to have a nana nap in my lovely comfy
bed :)))))))))))) IT did clear up a bit this arvo but it is cold
!!!!!
I would like a bit more heat and sunshine !

It rained all day here yesterday and was quite cool, not enough
to put the heating on, but cool none the less. We need the rain
so I won't complain about it......yet. [emoji4]

Not bad here today all day ..... a bit of sunshine now and again
but NO wind or rain and it is quite warm :) Makes a change :)
