       Spec Savers
By: Moira Date: November 11, 2025, 3:00 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I have to say the people in Spec Savers in Whanganui are
lovely.... have I said that before ????
I saw a young optician maybe born in .. Asia .. China .. but he
was lovely and did all the eye tests and in the end my left eye
is almost unchanged/no worse but my right eye .... MY GOOD
eye.... is getting a bit worse due to being used more !!!
I went in using my OLD Perth Aussie Specs .... got them checked
and they are GOOD ... but need new lenses because of the age and
the scratches etc ....... SO they have been sent off to
AUSTRALIA as that is where Specsavers MAKE the new lenses !!!!!
It will take maybe 2/3 weeks to get them back here to NZ !!
PS: I KNOW I have been told that before BUT I had
       forgotten!!!!!!!!!!! BUGGER !
SO now I have my old Reading glasses and my Distance glasses
..... NZ Ones ..... old ones and await my Aussie ones to come
back so I can wear them whenever !! COST ......I had to pay
NZ$260.00 today and need another $75 + when the specs come back
! THAT IS Just for the glass Lenses and using the old frames !
       PASS

PS: I ran out of writing space on the last post
       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO if over the next few weeks my spelling and writing is rubbish
...... I can blame my OLD specs :)
Tonight I have on an old pair and I Have had to make the writing
on here 125% and the writing is coming up DARK !!! Then all of a
sudden it goes back to normal !!!!!!!!!!!! Pass !!!!!!

The most expensive part of glasses are the lenses in most cases,
but I'm glad you didn't have to buy new frames as well. I always
find the people is Specsavers are very nice and I have never had
any complaints with them, but I do find they have a very fast
       turnover of staff!!!!

I do have a choice of a few frames from my old specs .....thank
goodness .... but because of the left eye and the special lens
needed I do have to pay extra ... been the same for many years !
Plus nowadays I have to pay to have the lens made thinner
       !!!!!!!!!!!!
You have said that before about Spec. Savers re: staffing and I
think you may be right as I DID Not recognise any of the .....
mainly female staff from the last time .... 8 ish months ago !!!
Still lovely staff ... mostly females .....in Whanganui :)

Why do you get the lens cut thinner?
At least I usually see the same optician, that makes it a bit
       easier.

Because the glass used in my left eye is THICK ... because my
sight is bad in that eye ..... if the lens was just normally
made .... at no extra cost.... the glass would be THICK .... and
the actual specs would look ridiculous with the left eye glass
sticking out. Hard to explain but I have seen some glasses with
one lens THICK and they look ridiculous.
Actualleh thinking about it, I am sure it was Angie who told me
about getting the left lens thinned ...a few years ago now and I
think it was in Perth when she first came to visit us !!! AND
Yes my Perth Glasses are still the best ones ever !
PS: I am also sure I HAVE talked about this before
       !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, I see what you mean now and that would be well worth the
extra money, but it's also a pain. You may have mentioned it
before, that does not mean that I remember it though [emoji1]

You are right.... it is a pain and the specs I Am having to use
ATM are the ones I got last year... with a special added bit on
the nose area to lift them higher up on my nose off my cheeks
.............. but they annoyed me so I took off the extra nose
bits and so now they rest on my cheeks and no air gets round and
they get blurred at the bottom.... OK forget it as I KNOW I HAVE
told you about this before !!!
BUT they are annoying me again since I HAVE to use them ATM !
       Pass :)))))))))))
