Some rescue organisations are asking for $1000 a dog, depending
on breed I believe, which disgusts me no end. I get some rescue
dogs can be expensive as they have had to spend so much money on
them due to cruelty and neglect.
Back in the 80's when I bred Borders, I sold each pup for
$250!!!! That didn't cover vet bills, medications, feeding etc.
If bred correctly, it's an expensive thing to do and these days
there are a lot of DNA tests and other tests to be done.

Juno was a private buy from a friend of a friend of Matt's :)
       $1000 a dog or $250 for a pup to me is crazy ! BUT I don't buy
dogs or cats !!!! BUT I suppose if you are going to spend that
large amount on a dog or pup then you WILL take good care of it
       :)
       Juno is totally spoilt :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I think we paid £250 for Shannon all those years ago but she had
excellent pedigree and she really was the best dog I ever had
and still miss her dreadfully at times. I think I have decided
if we get a border collie it will be a black and white because
I’m worried about the genes and maybe problems with blue merle,
and yes they are the top of the price range. I did see an advert
for some black and white farm bred and the mum and dad looked
gorgeous, I may enquire if they are still available after our
       break away.

I should hope that no matter the cost of your pet, you would
look after it, but some people don't no matter how much they
paid or they find out that the cute little 'oodle' pup they
bought needs to be correctly clipped and groom regularly and so
they dump it or don't bother [emoji36]
All my Border Collies bought as pups had very good breeding and
Jenna's blood line could be traced back to the original Border
       Shep.
If you are thinking of a farm bred Border, please be aware that
their instant to herd is much stronger and can sometimes have no
       off switch.

Bwahahahahahaha but I do admire your dog knowledge and I can
always ask you if I have any doggy questions :) [emoji170]
Talking of dogs.... this evening Matt put up a pic of ...what
looked to me like a younger Maggie....... I thought he must have
been looking through old photos or whatever. But NO, he was
visiting his mate ? ... who had a pup of Maggie's from when we
lived in Helensville !!!!!!!!!!!! The now 2+year old is the spit
of Maggie :) I will try and do a pic on FB.

Oh that's nice that he saw one of Maggie's pups [emoji4] I used
to love getting photos of Jenna's pups growing up.
